I have been a leadership and communication coach for over 3 years after serving 29+ years in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry in the Fiji Islands. Yes! I live in this beautiful island in the South Pacific where the greeting you will hear is "BULA" which means welcome, good health, cheers, to name a few! So when you hear me say this or when I greet you with BULA! you will know exactly what this means! English is our first language. We were ceded to Great Britain and in 1970 became an independent nation. English is the language that we communicate with in our schools and in day to day business. However, there are a few languages spoken here which includes our indigenous Fijian language that is also taught as a subject in schools along with the Hindi language. We also feature some of the most beautiful beaches and landscapes in the world with Fiji's top earnings coming from the Tourism industry (prior to Covid - We hope to bring this back soon with our international borders opening 01 December 2021). By air travel we are only 4 hours away from international cities such as Sydney and Brisbane, Australia, 3 hours from Auckland, New Zealand, and 10-12 hours from Los Angeles and San Francisco, USA. We can get to a handful of Asian countries direct from Fiji which takes anything from 7-10 hours, otherwise there is a connection from an Australian or New Zealand port. For the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, we would have to take 2 flights to get to the main ports. So, there you have it, we are not that far away from you, right! I am more fondly known as Cathy and have always had a passion for mentoring and coaching people in my leadership roles. It brings me the greatest joy when people around me are inspired and realize their potential. My career in tourism started with the worldwide hotel chain Starwood Hotels and Resort (now Marriott International) way back in 1990. You could say I was one of those women who "rose up in the chain" into my various leadership roles in the 14 years I was there. Shortly after, I took on the role of Manager AVIS Fiji in 2005, becoming the first woman to take on this management role in its 35 year history. I then went on to become the Field Marketing Manager Fiji, for Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, the number 1 brand in Timeshare worldwide at the time. Shortly after I took on a Regional role, with Wyndham to also oversee New Zealand along with the Fiji market. I had the privilege to serve as General Manager Yatule Resort and Spa Natadola Beach, in 2017, a boutique resort on one of the best beaches in Fiji. I am thankful to have had a successful career in tourism and hospitality that also enabled me to travel all around the world, where I also dealt with clients from all over the world. I am passionate about leadership and my aim is to use my wealth of experience to coach women entrepreneurs and professionals to pursue their purpose so they can get clear or continue to be clear of their path ahead. My expertise is especially in the area of purpose and I honestly believe that until you get a true sense of where you are heading, you will, at most times, be going in different directions. I have found that this can be a waste of time and precious energy and it all comes down to getting crystal clear of your path ahead, Your Purpose! I am a certified John Maxwell Team coach, trainer and speaker and acquired my accreditation in Orlando, Florida in February 2018. Additionally I am an accredited Being Profile practitioner and an accredited Thrive Coach which means I am certified to coach around all the Ways of Being for the Being Profile, an Australian accreditation. Last but not the least I am a wife (27 years) and a mother of 4 beautiful children (24, 21, 16 and 14). I am also a grandmother of a beautiful grand-daughter who is 3 years old. I know what it’s like to be stuck amid climbing the corporate ladder between spending quality time with family and serving in the community. I endeavor to reach out to the woman who was in my position almost 5-15 years ago because I have been there! That woman is successful, in many ways then she may understand, however, she is just going through the motions of life that can sometimes get her stuck in situations that she just can't seem to get past and she continues to hustle through each day and week. Before she knows it another year has passed and another and another. As women, we tend to prioritize everything else above ourselves, but I am here to remind you that knowing your purpose and activating it early, will enable you to become the best version of yourself and live a fulfilling life.
