USP Lautoka Campus is one of the two Distance & Flexible Learning (DFL) Centres of USP in Fiji, the other being Fiji Centre Northern in Labasa. USP Lautoka Campus represents the USP in the Western Divsion. It offers courses mainly in the distance and flexible (DFL) mode. However, vocational courses, preparing students directly for labour market such as IT courses are also offered.

Comprehensive Tsunami Drill at USP Lautoka!

The University of the South Pacific (USP) Lautoka Campus conducted a comprehensive tsunami evacuation drill on September 15 to raise awareness and strengthen emergency preparedness among students and staff.

The drill was supported by officials from the National Disaster Risk Management Office (Fiji NDMO), Commissioner Western’s Office, National Fire Authority, Fiji Police Force, Lautoka City Council, USP OHS and DISMAC teams, and campus wardens.

Following the evacuation siren, students and staff were guided to designated emergency assembly points. Lautoka Campus evacuees moved to Punjas Children’s Park, while USP Pacific TAFE students and staff assembled at Simla Park.

USP Lautoka Campus Director Dr Pramila Devi thanked students, staff and all partner agencies for their participation and support in making the drill successful.

USP Lautoka Campus, in collaboration with the USP Occupational Health and Safety Team and the National Disaster Management Risk Management Office (NDMRMO - Fiji NDMO), conducted a Tsunami Evacuation Awareness and Planning Session to strengthen emergency preparedness and response measures across the campus.

The session focused on enhancing awareness of tsunami risks, evacuation procedures, and emergency preparedness planning, to ensure that the USP Lautoka Campus community is adequately prepared to respond effectively in the event of an emergency.
