Happy World Helicopter Day!

What day would be better to share some great pictures of the helicopters our instructors have flown 🚁

We are pleased to announce a substantial expansion of our training services with a new state-of-the-art training center in Oslo, Norway, set to open in 2028.

"Our Helsinki headquarters and training center will be at maximum simulator capacity in the next two years, yet the need for pilot training in Europe and globally is only increasing," shared Coptersafety CEO Hannu Marjoniemi.

"Coptersafety’s new facility in Oslo will provide operators a choice in location, alongside our Helsinki headquarters and training center, and new simulator aircraft platforms.”

The first simulator introduced to the fleet will be a H135/H145 Level D full flight simulator.

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate that to highlight our instructors.

The majority of our instructors are still active pilots in operations such as HEMS, SAR, and Offshore, or have had decades-long aviation careers.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Eetu Peuraniemi as our new Chief Flight Instructor.

Martin Berner, who has been in the role since 2022, announced he is stepping down as CFI, and will continue as an AW139 instructor and ensure a smooth transition.

Eetu has a strong history with Coptersafety, previously as the Lead H145 Instructor, as well as an extensive career in Search and Rescue, Offshore, and HEMS. His experience has provided a deep understanding of Coptersafety’s customers’ needs and continuing to support the mission in helping helicopter operators minimize safety risks through simulator training.

"I want to thank Martin for his contribution as a CFI to Coptersafety. Your dedication and efforts are deeply appreciated,” stated Mikko Kallio, Coptersafety’s Head of Training. “I am pleased to welcome Eetu as a CFI. His long career as a pilot in the industry as well as his vast instructor experience in several roles at Coptersafety will give him a perfect background to successfully manage his new role!”

We are happy to announce that Coptersafety has signed an agreement with REISER for the order of two new simulators.

“I’m thrilled to announce this project in cooperation with REISER. The Airbus Helicopters’ H145 fleet is quickly growing and so is the need for additional H145 simulator training capacity. As our next new simulator type, we’ve chosen the Airbus Helicopters’ H175 due to the growing fleets of super-medium types. With these new simulators, we will extend our customer base to a new type and add much-needed capacity to the H145 training market.” says Toni Rönnberg, COO of Coptersafety.

NVG training in the simulator 🌃

What a great picture from instructor Matti during an early morning simulator training.

Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) are an essential part of helicopter operations that operate in low light and night conditions.

They are particularly utilized by emergency services and law enforcement in civil operations.

However, NVGs provide a different view than what you can see during the day or even what is seen below/around the goggles.

From depth perception, field of view, and visual acuity, the green (or white) view is a new working environment that pilots need to train for safely and effectively.

We provide NVG training to familiarize pilots with the basic principles of operating NVGs in normal and emergency conditions.

In the simulator, pilots can train with NVGs in a safe environment under night time conditions.
