At the same time, catering organisations operate in an international environment with multicultural workforces, demanding operational schedules and strict compliance requirements. Ensuring that employees have the right knowledge, and that training is delivered consistently across locations, is therefore essential.

We provide catering organisations with aviation-specific digital training that can be delivered consistently, efficiently and globally.

Our growing training portfolio for in-flight catering operations includes:
▫️ Food Safety
▫️ Halal in Catering Operations
▫️ Airside Safety
▫️ Aviation Basics

Are You Ready for the Busy Autumn Season?

Summer is still in full swing, but August is also a good time to look ahead.

As the busy autumn season approaches, aviation organisations should review whether recurrent training is up to date, new and seasonal employees are ready, and teams are prepared for changing operational conditions.

Training should be part of the same preparation as staffing, equipment and procedures — not a last-minute exercise.

Airport College provides aviation eLearning for passenger services, ramp handling, air cargo, catering and forwarding, helping organisations deliver consistent training across locations.

Now is a good time to make sure your teams are ready for autumn - and for the winter season ahead.

Operational Excellence Begins on the Ramp 30/07/2026

Operational Excellence Begins on the Ramp

Operational excellence depends on more than processes and equipment. It relies on competent employees who understand their responsibilities and can perform their tasks consistently and safely.

People Drive Performance

The ramp is one of the most dynamic and demanding areas of aviation operations. Every day, teams work under time pressure while maintaining strict safety, security, and operational standards.

Training for Real Operations

Effective training helps reduce operational errors, improve communication, and strengthen teamwork during aircraft turnaround activities. Combining eLearning, classroom training, microLearning and On-the-Job Training (OJT) provides employees with the knowledge and experience needed to perform confidently in real-world situations.

Creating a Strong Safety Culture Through Continuous Learning

Learning Beyond Compliance: A strong safety culture is not built through policies alone. It is created through the everyday actions, decisions, and behaviours of employees throughout the organisation.

Continuous learning plays a important role in maintaining safety awareness and operational excellence. Regular training helps employees stay informed about procedures, understand emerging risks, and reinforce safe working practices.

Supporting Safety Every Day

Topics such as Human Factors, Aviation Security, Airside Safety and Safety Management Systems (SMS), are most effective when learning becomes an ongoing process rather than a one-time event.

Digital learning solutions make it easier for organisations to deliver recurrent training consistently across multiple locations while providing employees with flexible access to learning resources.

Why Competency-Based Training Matters in Aviation Operations

The aviation industry operates in a highly regulated and safety-critical environment where competence matters as much as compliance.

Beyond Course Completion

Traditionally, training programmes have focused on course completion and knowledge transfer. Today, many organisations are adopting competency-based approaches that place greater emphasis on an employee's ability to apply knowledge and skills in real operational situations.

Building Real-World Competence

Competency-based training helps ensure that employees not only understand procedures but can also perform their duties safely and effectively. This approach is becoming increasingly important across aviation, including ground handling and air cargo operations.

By combining eLearning, classroom training, microLearning, On-the-Job Training (OJT) and assessments, organisations can build stronger workforce competence while supporting operational performance and safety objectives.

Sustainable Aviation Training: An Often-Overlooked Opportunity

When aviation organisations think about reducing their environmental impact, the focus is often on aircraft, ground support equipment, or fuel efficiency. Yet one opportunity is frequently overlooked: training.

Digital training can help organisations:

✔️ Deliver training more quickly
✔️ Scale learning courses across multiple locations
✔️ Reduce travel and facility costs
✔️ Track compliance and completion in real time
✔️ Provide employees with flexible access to learning

This combination of operational and environmental benefits makes eLearning an increasingly attractive option for aviation employers.

H1 2026: Expanding Aviation Training Solutions Worldwide

The first half of 2026 has been a busy and exciting period for Airport College International. As the aviation industry continues to grow, we have focused on expanding our training portfolio, strengthening international partnerships, supporting regulatory compliance, and engaging with industry stakeholders around the world.

Expanding Our Training Portfolio

During the first half of 2026, we continued to expand our aviation training portfolio to support the evolving needs of airlines, ground handling companies, and air cargo operators.

eLearning Courses

A key achievement was the development of six new ground handling eLearning courses based on the IATA Airport Handling Manual (AHM) 1110 standards, as well as new Halal Operations and Food Safety eLearning courses for airline catering operations. These courses were designed to support training and assessment requirements while helping organisations maintain high levels of operational safety, compliance, and performance.

Integrated Aviation Training Concept (IATC)

Another important milestone was the launch of our Integrated Aviation Training Concept (IATC), combining digital eLearning, Virtual Reality (VR) training, and structured On-the-Job Training (OJT). The concept was developed to help organisations build workforce competence through a blended learning approach that connects theory, practice, and operational performance.
