The Sri Lankan community in Turku, Finland, came together to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year for the second time on June 28th, marking a joyful continuation of a cultural tradition far from home. The event brought together Sri Lankans of all backgrounds to enjoy traditional music, dance, games, and food, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflected the rich heritage of Sri Lanka. It served as a meaningful opportunity to strengthen community bonds, share cultural values with younger generations, and introduce Finnish friends and locals to the warmth and spirit of Sri Lankan festivities. The celebration highlighted the community’s dedication to preserving their cultural identity while embracing life in a multicultural Finland.
