...and so the "never ending" summer/day light time starts... At this moment, already in the most northern parts of Finland....
In Turku, the evenings are quite light already - but the sun does set! :)
When you live in Lapland and you enjoy watching the sun go down 😀

The Vappen celebrations are online this year, please join from all parts of the world!

Proud to be a Finn, with this marvellous PM!
Sanna Marin, The Youngest Prime Minister In The World, Talks Sexism, Imposter Syndrome, and Sustainability
“In every position I’ve ever been in, my gender has always been the starting point – that I am a young woman. I hope one day it won’t be an issue, that this question won’t be asked. I want to do as good a job as possible. I’m no better and no worse than a middle-aged man”

Dear valued Partner,
So far in Finland, there are 155 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported. As a necessary measure to prevent infection and spread of the coronavirus Åbo Akademi University has decided to close its campuses in Åbo and Vasa for all students effective from Monday 16th of March until the end of April. As of Monday, all teaching activities at ÅAU will be replaced with online teaching. The students have been well informed about this. All examinations will also be conducted in a digital way, and all exams for international students will be prioritized. Students will be informed directly about the arrangements.
This means that all international students are free to return home if they wish, and continue with their studies online.
Students must cancel their housing agreements and hopefully have some of the costs refunded by their insurance. Students have been informed that they should be in contact with their accommodation provider and inform them that they will return home and organise the final payments.
ÅAU will stay in close contact with the students who wish to stay, and we will take good care of them.
The students will be continuously updated by e-mail and are asked to follow the information and instructions posted on our web: https://www.abo.fi/en/news/instructions-for-staff-and-students-at-aau/
ÅAU has also called home their students who are currently conducting their exchange semesters abroad.
Please contact us if you have any questions.

Spring and LIGHT is in the air 😍
When it comes to natural light, Finns are self-proclaimed experts. And we’d say that in Southern Finland, there is a hint of spring in the air.

Friends 🥰
If you ask a Finn “will you be my Valentine?”, he or she might look confused. 🤔 ❓ On February 14th, we celebrate friendship! In Finnish, Valentine's Day translates as "ystävänpäivä", which is literally “The Friend Day”. So show your friends some (platonic) love – the Finnish way. 💕
