Sjöfartsutbildning - Merenkulun koulutusta - Maritime education Vi har utbildat Sjökaptener i Åbo sedan 1813 och är därmed Finlands äldsta yrkesskola.

Idag utbildar vi sjökaptener och ingenjörer inom sjöfart vid Yrkeshögskolan Novia och vaktstyrmän och vaktmaskinmästare vid Axxell. Vi erbjuder även veckoslutskurser till skeppare i inrikestrafik, maskinskötare och förare, samt en stor mängd fortbildningskurser för såväl yrkessjöfarare, fritidsbåtförare och andra intresserade. Till vårt förfogande har vi landets största fartygssimulator med 15 st kommandobryggor i Åbo.

Aboa Mare tarjoaa merenkulkualan tutkinto- ja jatkokoulutusta vuodesta 1813 alkaen. Aboa Maressa voi opiskella merikapteeniksi, merenkulun insinööriksi, vahtiperämieheksi ja vahtikonemestariksi. Aboa Mare tarjoaa kolmannen asteen koulutusta ammattikorkeakoulu Novian kautta ja toisen asteen koulutusta Axxellin kautta. Lisäksi Aboa Mare järjestää kursseja sekä ammattimerenkulkijoille että huviveneilijöille. Koulutustarjonnassa hyödynnetään Aboa Maren kehittämiä huippulaatuisia simulaattoreita. Simulaattoriyksiköissä tarjotaan merenkulun turvallisuuteen ja ympäristön kannalta kestävään merenkulkuun liittyvää koulutusta. Simulaattoreilla toteutetaan koulutuksen lisäksi erilaisia merenkulkualan tutkimus- ja tuotekehitysprojekteja.

Aboa Mare offers degree and continuing education for the maritime industry. The maritime education and training centre in Turku was founded in 1813. At Aboa Mare you can study for a sea captain's or marine engineer's degree as well as for a watch keeping officer’s or watch keeping engineer’s degree. Aboa Mare offers bachelor level education at Novia UAS and secondary education at Axxell vocational institute. In addition Aboa Mare offers continuing education for both professional seafarers and boaters. In the education and training, the top-notch simulators developed by Aboa Mare are utilised. Training for safe and environmentally sustainable seafaring is provided at the training centre. Apart from the training, the simulators are used for different R&D projects within the maritime industry.

How can young maritime professionals enter the international yachting industry, and what does the growing shadow fleet mean for safety in the Baltic Sea?

These are two of the topics featured in the seminar programme at Maritime Fair 2026, held at Aboa Mare in Turku on 29–30 October.

On the student-focused first day, Yasara Chandraratne, a yacht officer with seven years of experience in the international yachting sector, will discuss career opportunities in the industry and offer practical advice on how to enter the field.

On the second day, Captain Mikael Hilden, MM, AFNI of AMH Maritime will lead a panel discussion on the shadow fleet, examining the shadow fleet from the perspectives of safety, surveillance and the future development of maritime traffic in the Baltic Sea.

Alongside these sessions, the two-day seminar programme will bring together a wide range of speakers from across the maritime sector to discuss current challenges, future opportunities and developments shaping the industry.

In addition to the seminar programme, the fair will bring together maritime professionals, shipping companies, authorities, manufacturers, service providers, instructors and students. Around 60 exhibitors are expected to attend, including most of Finland's shipping companies.

Admission to both the exhibition and seminar programme is free of charge.
