The Seafaring Employment Service helps with acquiring and renewing all kinds of maritime certificates of competency and proficiency. The service can also arrange for labour market training with a maritime focus for jobseekers from other Employment Areas than Turku Employment Region.

Getting labour market training as a client from other Employment Areas always requires a discussion in advance with an expert at the Seafaring Employment Service.

We are proud to announce a new cooperation with Royal Caribbean Group, one of the world's leading cruise companies.

As part of this collaboration, Royal Caribbean has selected Aboa Mare as a partner for its cadet program for our students. The program will initially be available to engineering students, and the first cadets are expected to sign on to Royal Caribbean vessels in October. Interested students will have the opportunity to apply through a separate application process.

Supervised onboard training is an essential part of maritime education at Aboa Mare, and this new partnership further strengthens the international opportunities available to our students.

We look forward to seeing our students take the next step in their maritime careers and gain experience on a truly global stage.

Meriaura has a strong position in marine traffic on the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, and its versatile fleet currently consists of 15 vessels. With the company’s ongoing newbuilding programme, the fleet is being renewed at a rapid pace. Around 100 seafarers and approximately 40 shore-based employees work for Meriaura. We crew Meriaura’s owned cargo vessels and transport, among other things, bio- and circular economy products, agribulk, and demanding special cargoes in Northern Europe. Vill du jobba till sjöss, men saknar sjöfartsutbildning? 🌊 Ansök till vaktmansutbildningen (grundexamen i sjöfart) vid Axxell i Åbo och ta första steget mot en karriär inom sjöfarten!

Studierna startar den 12 januari 2027 och pågår till augusti 2027, varefter du kan välja att fortsätta studera till hela examen (vakthavande styrman eller vakthavande maskinmästare). Utbildningen ges på svenska.

💡 Efter avlagd delexamen kan du ansöka om behörighetsbrev för vaktman (däck eller maskin) hos Traficom. Då kan du jobba ombord som vaktman inom däcks- eller maskinavdelningen. Vaktmansutbildningen kan också vara starten på en längre karriär inom sjöfarten. Efter examen som vakthavande styrman eller vakthavande maskinmästare kan du fortsätta dina studier vid Yrkeshögskolan Novia och utbilda dig till sjökapten eller sjöingenjör. Har du redan tidigare sjöfartsstudier i bagaget kan din studietid på yrkeshögskolenivå förkortas.
