Sunshine Early Learning Centre

Next week, we are opening the doors of our new daycare in Hervantajärvi. 💙

On Monday, August 10, we will welcome the first children to Sunshine Hervantajärvi. The daycare provides early childhood education in English and Finnish, giving children a strong foundation for language learning from an early age.

The new centre has been designed specifically for early childhood education. Every space has been designed to promote calmness and functionality. Groups have their own entrances to make arrivals and departures calmer and more comfortable.

⭐ This week, our team has been preparing the new centre and getting everything ready for Monday. We also welcomed families to visit the daycare centre to explore new facilities and meet the team. We are excited to begin the new season and welcome our very first Sunshine families to Hervantajärvi! 🌞

The weather was perfect on Wednesday for a trip to Pikku Kakkonen park with our Swans group ☀️

We can practise lots of skills with sensory and loose parts play including fine motor (manipulation of small objects & hand-coordination) , sensory regulation (therapeutic input from handling materials like sand, rice or natural items), cognitive development (scientific enquiry and critical thinking) and social and language when playing in groups (collaboration, negotiation, and communication).

🌿 Into the Forest with Sunshine! 🌿 Rain, shine, or somewhere in between — our children love playing in the forest! 🌱 In the Finnish early childhood curriculum, nature is not just a backdrop — it's a learning environment in itself. Time spent outdoors supports children's physical literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific curiosity, language development, and emotional well-being. And on our forest trip days we see all of that come alive among the trees. 🌲 When children work together to build a den, they are negotiating, planning, and constructing. When they try to lever up a rock with a long stick, they are exploring the laws of physics. When they climb, they are building body awareness, courage, and trust in their own abilities. When they gather together for a story under the trees, they are developing language, imagination, and a sense of community. And when they collect fir cones?
