Kiinnostaako Modus ry:n jäsenyys tai yhdistyksemme toiminta yleisellä tasolla? Tervetuloa tutustumaan Modukseen tiistaina 3. helmikuuta klo 10-16 vietettävään Modus-päivään Finlaysonin Vooninkiin. Tapahtumaa vietetään European Quilt Triennale -näyttelyn yhteydessä eli samalla on oiva mahdollisuus tutustua tähän upeaan nykytekstiilitaiteen näyttelyyn. Sekä tapahtumaan että näyttelyyn on vapaa sisään pääsy.

Modus ry:n 25-vuotisjuhlavuoden kunniaksi rakennamme tapahtumaan Moduksen oman "tilkkuteoksen", joka esittelee jäsentemme monipuolista osaamista ja heidän käyttämien materiaalien laajaa kirjoa.

Are you interested in membership of Modus or our association's activities in general? Welcome to Modus Day on Tuesday, February 3rd from 10 am to 4 pm at Vooninki in Finlayson area. The event is held in conjunction with the European Quilt Triennale exhibition, which means it is a great opportunity to get to know this wonderful exhibition of contemporary textile art. Admission to both the event and the exhibition is free.

In honor of Modus ry's 25th anniversary, we are creating Modus' own "quilt work" for the event, which will showcase the diverse skills of our members and the wide range of materials they use.

.. is the estimated value of the European craft sector. It has a massive economic reality, representing millions of jobs, heritage, and constant innovation.

Despite this significant economic footprint, the sector is held back by a fundamental gap in infrastructure. Without a shared EU-wide definition or dedicated NACE codes, this €50 billion industry is often cut off from the reliable data and funding mechanisms it requires to thrive.

It is time to bridge this gap.

On 10 December, we will discuss, how we can turn the economic weight into political recognition.

We are excited to launch the first-ever ECA Summer School – a relaxed, flexible online programme exploring the intersections of entrepreneurship, sustainability, and creativity in the craft sector.

Over four themed weeks, we will share curated content from the ECA and our members. Some of the material will be made publicly available for the first time.

📚 Each week also includes our 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐜 – a handpicked collection of articles and publications on European craft, perfect for slow reading days.

It’s not a traditional school, there are no live sessions or teachers; it is a chance to catch up or to dive deeper during the slower summer weeks. The programme is free and everyone is warmly invited to join.

🎤 This week, we are taking part in the International IP Enforcement Summit 2025

As we count down to the implementation of the new EU legislation on geographical indications for craft and industrial products, we are proud to take part in Europe’s flagship event on 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, where experts, policymakers, law enforcement, and businesses are coming together to address the challenges of IP protection in an increasingly digital world.

A strong focus this year is on helping SMEs navigate new legal landscapes, including recent EU regulations like the AI Act.

📌 On Thursday, don’t miss the panel I𝐏𝐑 𝐄𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬, where ECA Secretary General Laura Miguel Baumann will speak on how rights such as designs, geographical indications, and plant varieties are protected today — and what tools are most needed to support craftspeople and their IP.

Conference is organised by European Union Intellectual Property Office - EUIPO, Interagency Market Control Unit (DIMEA), Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) & the European Commission.

📈 Luovat alat ovat maailmalla vahvoja kasvualoja. Suomessa luovien alojen osuus BKT:sta on 3,1 prosenttia. Koska se on alle EU:n keskiarvon (4,4 prosenttia), kasvupotentiaalia on valtavasti.

📈 Jotta luova ala kehittyy ja kasvaa sekä vahvistaa niin kulttuurista kuin taloudellista pääomaamme, päätöksenteon on tuettava alan potentiaalia.

🇪🇺 Tämä edellyttää EU:n tasolla muun muassa toimivia sisämarkkinoita, vahvoja tekijänoikeuksia ja rajat ylittäviä keinoja torjua piratismia.

👉Osuuden kasvattaminen vaatii systemaattista työtä ja muun muassa luovan alan tunnistamista omaksi teollisuuden alakseen, joka ansaitsee samanlaiset tukitoimenpiteet kuin muutkin alat.

👉Tällä hetkellä luovien alojen talouden koko on Suomessa 16,8 miljardia euroa. Tämä luku sisältää alan yritysten liikevaihdon ja yhteiskunnallisten toimijoiden toimintamenot.

👉Luovat alat ovat Suomessa monin verroin suurempi työllistäjä kuin esimerkiksi metsä-, kemian- tai sähkö- ja elektroniikkateollisuus. Luovien alojen BKT-osuus on suurempi kuin esimerkiksi paperiteollisuudella, ravintola- ja majoitusalalla, maataloudella tai tekstiiliteollisuudella.
