Rovaniemi Arctic Spirit Conference

15/05/2025

✨ Rovaniemi Arctic Spirit 2025 ✨
Brought Arctic security into sharp focus in May 2025

From May 5–7, we welcomed nearly 300 participants from across the Arctic and beyond to Rovaniemi to explore the theme “Elements of Arctic Security”.

High-level discussions took place at Korundi and Arktikum, covering:
• Arctic transportation & infrastructure
• Civil & military preparedness
• Climate and environmental change
• Sámi and indigenous perspectives
• Geopolitics, governance, youth, mental health – and more!

The conference also offered time and space for dialogue, networking, and shared reflection – including warm and welcoming receptions on both Monday and Tuesday evenings.

“We aimed to keep the Arctic’s own voice – its people, challenges and potential – at the heart of the conversation,” said Markku Heikkilä, Head of Science Communications at the Arctic Centre.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! See you again in spring 2027!
