As a student, have you ever felt like your culture has not been considered enough, or maybe even rejected in your classroom?

With increasing globalization and migration, some classrooms have become more culturally diverse, but in an increasingly multicultural society others remain homogenous.

In this workshop we will explore how we can expose and familiarize students with other cultures while practicing culturally responsive teaching and developing intercultural skills.

Join us in discussing methods, goals, and practices in promoting multiculturalism and intercultural competency.
But what is the difference between multiculturalism and interculturalism? Come to the workshop to find out! :)

🔥 Workshop Introduction: Future education - shaped by humans or robots?🔥

Digitalisation in recent decades has dramatically changed the way we work, learn, and interact.
Nowadays, we are almost constantly surrounded by technological tools. The impact they have on our daily life is increasing. The Internet is supporting us in staying updated, social media is influencing our opinion, and artificial intelligence is customizing our applications.

Therefore, digitalisation will not stop at education. But to what extent will education be influenced by modern technologies in the future? What roles will teachers have to play in the future? Or will the generation of tomorrow be taught by robots?

Join my workshop, and let's work on these questions together!

🔥 Workshop Introduction: Why don’t they teach this at school? Revisiting home economics in a practical workshop. IN-PERSON.🔥

Come cook and bake with me and let's explore what "revisiting" a home economics lesson brings forth - burning questions, old memories, and new perspectives. Recipes used in this workshop are from my own old 7th grade home economics textbook.

As we prepare food together, we'll discuss how school systems teach us hands-on skills that are meant to be applicable outside of school and academia. Do subjects trying to do this miss something from students' perspective? What makes us so often ask why some practical "real-life" skill is not taught at school? What is the point of a subject like home economics in today's school?

Looking forward to seeing you!
- Elina

P.S. Participants will inform me of food limitations to take into account. I will do my best to accommodate everybody.
