Course day five, the final day - a day in Helsinki. Today we explored Helsinki as a learning environment. We visited Oodi, the central library, the university library, the National library and a bookshop📚📑📖 - and along the way we also took is some downtown’s sights: the Market hall, the Market Square and the Cathedral. A wonderful way to wrap up a rich course week! A huge thank you to wonderful course participants - it was such a joy working with you this week😘

Course day four, school day number three📚🇫🇮 Today we headed to Karkkila upper secondary school, where we followed history, biology and French lessons. We also sat down with principal Ossi Kokkonen and special education teacher Ninnu Kotilainen to talk about upper secondary studies, support structures, and Finnish schools more broadly.

Course day three, school day two🇫🇮📚 Today we headed to Nyhkälä school in Karkkila - a primary school where the school’s own students acted as a guides. They picked us up, showed us around and told us about school life in their own words, from pupil’s point of view! Throughout the day we joined PE, Crafts, music and special education lessons, and in the afternoon we sat down to talk about assessment, school practices and approaches to special education🌻

Day 2 in Karkkila🇫🇮 the next three days we’ll be based at local schools, getting a real look at everyday school life in Finland.
Today we visited Karkkilan yhteiskoulu and spent a day inside a Finnish lower secondary school. Alongside the staff we talked through some big themes - special needs education, inclusion, school wellbeing, and how phone use is Handled during the school day.

A Job Shadowing journey: Understanding Finnish Education, Pedagogy & wellbeing🇫🇮 This course brings together teachers from France, Germany and Spain. Day 1 took us to Tehtaan Hotelli and along the Konnankieppi hiking trail. We campared education systems and practices from different countries - the good and the not-so-good - both inside and during the forest walk🌲
