The concluding and inspiring Closing conference for a 2-year small partnership project 2023-1-LV01-KA210-ADU-000157681 "Culture Goes Outdoors" 26.11.2026, online!
This was the day when culture and nature met, international experiences intertwined, and new ideas for the future were formed. We got fresh insights, stories across 3 countries, reliving how cultural initiatives can thrive in natural environments.
The conference began with an overview of the "Culture Goes Outdoors" project, presented by the project leader Lauma Celma (Latvia). She shared a comprehensive review of the project's goals, tasks, challenges, and the valuable insights gained. Afterwards, participants were introduced to the Finnish experience, presented by Ilze Liepiņa-Naula (Finland). She shared valuable discoveries and compared the Northern European practices with experiences from the South – Malta.
The Maltese experience was especially interesting, with Yorath Abela(Malta) providing inspiring insights into cross-border collaboration and how various cultural activities are implemented. The realization that nature is not only forests, but also cliffs and lagoons, expanded the understanding of what nature truly is. The possibilities for creating culture in nature in Malta were also highlighted.
Next, the Latvian experience was presented by Iveta Pokromoviča, who shared examples of cultural activities in nature and the local challenges faced. She also emphasized the importance of cultural activities not harming nature, demonstrating how creative concepts can live in harmony with nature, such as in the "Ghost Night Trails" event. A special emphasis was placed on Culture Without Harming Nature, with Anita Hanzena (Latvia) presenting the project experience, showcasing how creative cultural concepts can come to life while respecting and protecting natural landscapes.
The conference also gave special attention to the new learning program "Culture Goes Outdoors", which was presented, sparking curiosity about the new educational opportunities and skills participants would gain. At the end of the event, a cooperation memorandum was signed, reaffirming shared values and the commitment to further collaboration.
At the conclusion of the conference, participants engaged in lively discussions, sharing personal reflections, new ideas, and forming meaningful connections that developed throughout the day.
