On the last day of our project Researcher Michael Child from LUT gave us a lecture about planetary boundaries and sustainability. After the lecture Lyseo took a step towards sustainability as the students rearranged our bins and now we have a functioning recycling system. , ,

Today we went to see how the solar panels are made. We visited Valoe facility in Mikkeli. Later we will visit the Muukko windpark. A day full of green energy!

The last leg of our project started today as we visited Lappeenranta University of Technology. Researcher Michael Child told us about sustainable energy systems and associate professor Antti Kosonen introduced the Soletair project for us. Fascinating stuff!

Today the students are planning on how to make our schools greener in five categories.

We are back in Sweden. Today we visited the University of Gothenburg and heard about the research of batteries. Batteries are a key part of environmentally friendly vehicles and storing solar and wind power.

On this week's last workshop the students were asked to built solar powered vehicles. One of the five groups succeeded and got their vehicle moving even though it was cloudy day (video below). The dedication of the groups was superb!

In the morning we visited Kristinehed power plant where the domestic waste is separated and burned for district heating.
