On Friday, 09.12.22, students of LAB University of Applied Sciences from tourism management programme, had immersive experiences into virtual reality and learned how XR can add value to the culture and tourism services.

Some takeaways from participation in the ENCATC Congress last week

The ENCATC Congress celebrated its 30th anniversary - LAB Focus The European network on cultural management and policy, ENCATC, arranged the congress in Belgium.

The ENCATC Congress had a rich and dense programme 😅 Inspiring and thought-provoking keynotes at Fondation Universitaire in Brussels and afternoon parallel sessions at University of Antwerp. LAB University of Applied Sciences presented results of EDUCRO project jointly with Humanistinen ammattikorkeakoulu - Humak - University of Applied Sciences - an online course on in and sectors.

Wrapping up the cross-border cooperation project EDUCRO with the Final seminar , & . Sharing the project results, memories, good practices and lessons learnt. Many thanks to everyone from our team who made it happen: Juha Iso-Aho, Pekka Vartiainen, Merja Heino, Minna Ikävalko, Liubov Sidorova, OLESYA ILCHENKO and our speakers and panelists Tuija Seipell, Paul Gudgin, Anna Palokangas, Elli Niaria, Satu Ståhlberg, Juha-Pekka Natunen, Arttu Muukkonen, as well as Juha Leskinen for providing the space in Kulttuuritalo Virta, and of course, the participants!

The EDUCRO Summer Camp 2022 “Sustainable value and business creation in the culture and tourism sectors: current trends” held in Lappeenranta is now over! It was a week full of inspiring and interactive learning blended and spiced with lots of networking and fun. Many thanks to our experts: Hanna Kosonen (Forum Artis), Mikko Laak (Aalto), Marcin Poprawski (Humak), Johanna Heinonen (LAB), Ville Tikka (Poem), Olli Tähtinen (frog design), and the EDUCRO project team! And not to forget the students: what a diverse and active group it was – 10 different nationalities from various degree programmes.
The Summer Camp was organized by LAB University of Applied Sciences and Humanistinen ammattikorkeakoulu - Humak - University of Applied Sciences as a part of EDUCRO project activities. The project is co-funded by the European Union.

Presenting the results of the analysis of educational needs and training programme development done in EDUCRO project at the Cross-Cultural Business Conference at University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. Our presentation created a very lively discussion on cross-cultural competences with colleagues from various parts of the word!

Petra Yli-Kovero and Olga Bogdanova from LAB University of Applied Sciences visited AMK Kulttuurialojen kehittämispäivä 2022 organized by Metropolia Ammattikorkeakoulu at Helsinki XR Center. The topics of the event go hand in hand with the themes of the upcoming Educro Summer Camp 2022: sustainability and XR for culture sector. Lots of inspiration, benchmarking and ideas for collaboration!

Kristiina Brusila-Meltovaara and Olga Bogdanova presented case studies of digitalization in culture and tourism developed in EDUCRO project at Smart Cities in Smart Regions conference. The event was organized by LAB University of Applied Sciences and Avans Hogeschool in Breda, Netherlands.
