The event in support of the closed down NAS on Friday is ON! Great article (in Finnish), we are still inviting you all to contribute / take part on Fridays event (even if you are remote) . We are asking ourselves what value art have, except the economically driven once?

Perjantaina järjestetään monitaiteellinen tapahtuma suljetun Pohjoismaisen taidekoulun tueksi – Lähtökohtaisesti ajatuksena on, että nostamme meteliä, ettei Pohjoismainen taidekoulu lopu kaikessa hiljaisuudessa, sanoo Minttu Nikula. What’s your price?

Kulturnytt in Swedish radio P1, has also made a note of this tragedy that reaches beyond the Finnish borders. (in Swedish)

En vecka före planerad terminsstart läggs Nordiska konstkolan i finska Karleby ned. En chock för ledningen.

We regret to inform that the Nordic Art School will be closed. The board of Kvarnen joint municipal authority, which have been running the school since 2000, decided to shut down the Nordic Art School immediately due to the low number of the applicants. The staff of the school is very sorry about this decision. We have worked really hard to keep the school running and to provide students with high quality art education.

We want to thank all the former students and visiting teachers, who have studied and taught here in the past 35 years.

We are so proud of our students that have been planning a public art work that can function as a bench for the new park in Kokkola. Thank you Johanna Juupaluoma, Essi Pellikka, Katri Kassinen, Kirsi Julku ja Kaho Suzuki for your great job! Thank you also for making this possible Brita Maria Renlund foundation

Brita Marian puistoon asennettiin torstaina taidetta, kun Pohjoismaisen taidekoulun toteuttama Jäälautat-veistos tuotiin paikalleen. Veistoksen 36 betonista valettua veistosta levittäytyvät lähes koko puistoon.

During this summer our Director of Studies together with her performance-duo, has been working as artists-in-residency at Rejmyre Art Lab. You can read in the Swedish newspaper about how the duo Harrie Liveart has been working as part of the research project: Detox - clean it up!, which investigates the waste behind Rejmyre glass factory in rural Sweden.
