Research Findings Release: Harnessing the Potential of Digital Rehabilitation in Rwanda 🌟
Jamk University of Applied Sciences's digital rehabilitation team is excited to share the results of a study on digital rehabilitation in Rwanda. The research highlights the potential of digital tools to transform rehabilitation services.
Key Findings
✅Rehabilitation Access barriers: Long travel distances, high costs, a limited number of professionals, and a lack of information make it difficult for many individuals to access rehabilitation services.
✅Transforming Rehabilitation through Digital Solutions: Tools like Physitrack simplify rehabilitation by providing home exercise plans, client education, and remote monitoring. Participants reported faster recovery times, increased engagement, and reduced transportation costs.
✅Scaling Opportunities: Rwanda’s ongoing digitization of healthcare presents a significant opportunity to expand digital rehabilitation services. However, internet access, devices, and digital literacy investments are essential for success.
The study highlights the need for:
• Increasing the number of rehabilitation professionals.
• Public awareness campaigns about rehabilitation rights and services.
•Policies to support early interventions and incentivize digital solutions.

The last week of August was spent in a happy and international atmosphere. The Institute of Rehabilitation at Jamk University of Applied Sciences hosted visitors from Hospital 199 in Da Nang, Vietnam. 🌏
Specialists and researchers from the Institute of Rehabilitation have been collaborating with local stakeholders in Vietnam on various development and research projects. During this visit, the Vietnamese experts had the opportunity to learn more about the activities of JAMK and its partners in Jyväskylä. 💡
The visit aimed to deepen collaboration and explore new opportunities in the field of digital rehabilitation. During their stay, the guests also visited Hospital Nova, the Finnish Institute of High-Performance Sport KIHU, and the training facility in Killeri, Jyväskylä. Many thanks to all of you who shared your expertise with us! 🙏

The Jamk’s Global Digital Rehabilitation Initiative team hosted the third forum on (AI) in Rehabilitation, which attracted a diverse audience worldwide.
During the forum, we delved into 's transformative potential in rehabilitation globally, especially in low-resource settings.
AI in rehabilitation isn't just a futuristic concept—it's here, making a tangible difference today. By leveraging these technologies, we can provide personalized, efficient, and scalable services, ensuring , regardless of their geographic location or resources.
Our special gratitude goes to Dr. Katariina Korniloff from Jamk University of Applied Sciences for warmly welcoming our global audience.

Exciting updates from the Digital Rehabilitation team on the second Global Digital Rehabilitation Initiative Online Forum 2024! Our discussions highlighted a critical need for integrating digital rehabilitation in primary care with inspiring case studies from Rwanda and Uganda.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all supporters of our global initiative who attended the forum and represented various organizations worldwide. Your presence and contributions have been invaluable. We also appreciate Hopkins University's participation and presentation of innovative findings on integrating rehabilitation technologies in primary care with insights from Uganda. The initiative is supported by the Relab-HS consortium.
