Tourism Marketing and Management

Our Tourism Marketing and Management Research group and master's thesis programme would like to invite our collaboration partners and tourism stakeholders to join a free seminar at the University of Eastern Finland, Joensuu Campus, Aurora Building (AU100), on May 20th.

The topic of the seminar is Sustainable Tourism Innovations. During the afternoon, we are going to hear presentations from renowned international professors such as Professors Faizan Ali and Scott McCabe, as well as our own team members and students. We are going to hear what direction sustainable tourism is moving and what kind of innovations are happening and need to happen in the future.

Amidst all the end-of-semester chaos, this little break felt so refreshing — our teachers truly acknowledge our study load and are incredibly understanding. It makes such a difference.

These low-threshold meetups are one of the best things about UEF: we meet new people, share feedback, feel heard, build networks (and yes… in Finland, networking is EVERYTHING 😉), and learn so much about Finnish culture.

What sets UEF apart is the equality — teachers, students, coordinators… everyone is on the same level. No hierarchy, just real conversations and community.

I’m originally from Joensuu — so if you ever need tips on the best local spots, I’m your person! These days I live in Järvenpää and work as a receptionist alongside my studies. I’m happiest outdoors — exploring new trails, playing tennis, skiing in the winter — and I absolutely love travelling whenever I get the chance.

I graduated from JAMK with a Bachelor’s in Tourism Management, and I always knew I wanted to continue studying. The TMM degree is exactly what I was looking for in a master’s programme.
