𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Last week, 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘔𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘮: 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 brought the European forest community together in Brussels. EUFORE, MoniFun and the new FOREST Partnership joined forces to explore how research, monitoring and innovation can better support the future of Europe’s forests.

The discussions covered biodiversity, ecosystem services, remote sensing and forest monitoring, all topics closely linked to our work at E.C.O. Our colleague Jana used the two-day event to connect with research institutions, management bodies and international organisations from across Europe. It was great to be part of the exchange and to discuss how research, data and forest management can work together more effectively.

One key takeaway: Europe already has a strong knowledge base. The challenge now is to connect data, research and forest management more effectively and turn strategies into action.

How can businesses and cities get started with biodiversity footprinting? Join the launch of CircHive's Biodiversity Footprinting Guidance and Decision Tree on 7 October at 13:00 CEST. The Guidance helps organisations understand when and how different biodiversity footprinting approaches can support decision-making, while the Decision Tree offers a step-by-step guide to choosing the method that best fits your organisation's needs.

Participants will hear directly from Ivan Paspaldzhiev (EY), Ira Bhattarai (Natural Resources Institute Finland / Luonnonvarakeskus) and CircHive business partners on how the tools were developed, why they matter, and how to put them to use.

🌿 How can we unpack biodiversity perceptions and opposing narratives, and turn that understanding into better action?

Over the next four years, IUCN is partnering in the new BIOLOGUE (Horizon Europe) project to explore exactly that. The consortium has just met in Bonn to kick things off last week, bringing together expertise on biodiversity, communication, policy, participation and social dynamics.

Through BIOLOGUE, IUCN will help build the Science–Policy–Society–Media Dialogue Co-Lab, connect the project with relevant networks and decision-makers, and the Biodiversity Communication Toolbox, helping translate research into practical approaches for communication, deliberation, and co-creation.

A great start in Bonn last week, and a lot to look forward to 🙌
