The United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity was adopted on May 22, 1992. In order to draw attention to the fact that the number of living beings in nature is decreasing day by day, May 22 is celebrated every year as International Day for Biological Diversity.
The Convention on Biological Diversity, which is an international legal document for the protection of biodiversity, has been in force for 27 years. This was a decision of the United Nations General Assembly and it covers everything from animals, plants and fungi to microorganisms. With the slogan for this year “We are part of the solution for nature” determined by the United Nations, it is reminded once again that on May 22 having access to a clean and healthy environment depends on biological diversity.
As Learning In Nature, we continue to contribute to the recognition of biological diversity, to increasing the awareness of its importance and protection by bringing adults and children together into nature with the trainings we provide.
Happy International Day For Biological Diversity

Today is Outdoor Classroom Day! Learning In Nature has been one of the supporting partners of the Outdoor Classroom Campaign since 2017. Every year it takes place in May and November. Here in Finland we celebrate it as Ulkoluokkapäivä .
Finland has a long history of outdoor play and it is every day! May it be an inspiration for all🌦️
Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement to inspire and celebrate outdoor play and learning, at home and at school. On these two days each year teachers celebrate with a special day outdoors for their class, at the playground, park, seaside, forest, meadows, museum or any other natural environment or cultural site close by.
Children are spending less time outdoors than ever before and this is affecting their health, wellbeing and development. Time outdoors – on Outdoor Classroom Day and every day – will make children happier and healthier, as well as equipping them with the skills they need for life.

As Learning In Nature we too support Outdoor Office Days. Did you know that being outdoors boosts productivity, enhances mental well-being and reduces stress? According to the American Psychological Association via UCLA Health, spending just two hours per week in nature measurably improves cognitive function and lowers burnout rates.
Join us too this week for Finnish Outdoor Office Day Week and tell us your experience!

🇫🇮 Finland invites the world to take work outside.
During Finnish Outdoor Office Day Week, May 18–22, 2026, Finland is calling organizations, teams and individuals everywhere to move their work toward more natural environments.
The idea is simple: work doesn’t have to happen within four walls. Parks, forests, backyards, balconies and city streets can all become places for focused thinking, collaboration and creativity.
Outdoor Office Day Week is a global invitation to try working differently—even just for a moment. A change of environment can support better thinking, better energy, better work and better health.
This week also serves as a warm-up for International Outdoor Office Day on June 11, 2026—a shared global moment to rethink where and how work happens.
Wherever you are, start outside.
Make work environments more natural.
Join the movement.
