“People aren’t lists of jobs. They’re networks of experiences, ideas and relationships. Creating a knowledge graph of my own work revealed patterns that had been invisible to me for years.” - Kaius Niemi, Deputy CEO of Miltton
The future of work is changing rapidly, and understanding how to build sustainable, healthy, and equitable careers has never been more important.
On 10 September, Henley Business School's World of Work Institute (WOWI) will host its annual conference at the Whiteknights Campus in Reading under the theme: "The 100 Year Career: Last. Adapt. Rise."
Bringing together leading academics and forward-thinking business leaders, the conference will explore the workforce of tomorrow and how organisations can rethink talent strategies to support career longevity, well-being, and equal opportunities.
We are proud to announce that Henley Business School Nordic will be part of the conference for the first time. Representing the Nordic perspective, Dr Paula Kilpinen, Managing Director at Henley Business School Nordic, Annina Tanhuanpää, Executive Director of UNICEF Finland, Kauis Niemi, Deputy CEO of Miltton, and Suvi Piira, HR Director at Novo Nordisk, will share insights on the Nordic way of working and how organisations are navigating workforce transitions.
This will be an insightful day built around a meaningful topic that concerns many.

“In order to consider the programme [EMBA] to be a worthwhile investment for the company, business leaders and HR professionals need to understand the value of the training, and in particular the return-on-investment (ROI) of an EMBA.” - Juho Toivola
✍️ In his blog post, a Henley EMBA graduate, Juho Toivola, explains how an Executive MBA is more than an investment in one's education. It strengthens students' leadership capabilities, improves retention, increases productivity, and builds a stronger succession pipeline.
🚀 Investing in an EMBA is investing in the future of both leaders and organisations as the value extends beyond leadership development - Henley EMBA graduates report an average salary increase of 51% within three years of graduation.

🎓 This year, we are celebrating two remarkable milestones: 40 years of Henley in the Nordics and the 100th anniversary of the University of Reading.
As part of this celebration, we are looking back on four decades of inspiring alumni stories, experiences, and lessons learned. Today, we are pleased to spotlight CEO of UK and Ireland Region, Siemens Advanta, Ella Haapiainen, who graduated from the Henley MBA in 2009.
🗣️ "I have so many great memories from my time at Henley School, starting with the incredible people I met and the friendships we built. Beyond the classroom, the late-night gatherings and even our visits to salsa clubs remain some of my favorite lifelong memories.
From a learning perspective, the teamwork and the opportunity to collaborate with people from such diverse backgrounds were invaluable.
Looking back, the Henley experience broadened my horizons, shaped my career, and left a lasting impact on both my professional and personal life."
🚀 As Henley marks 40 years in the Nordics, As Henley marks 40 years in the Nordics, stories like Ella's reflect what has always been at the heart of the Henley: a community that expands horizons, builds lifelong connections, and shapes futures in ways both expected and unexpected.

What’s wrong with this picture? ❓
You have more data than any leader in history. More dashboards. More reports. More AI-generated answers. And yet— decisions feel harder.
This is because the real leadership challenge has changed. It’s no longer about getting answers. It’s about knowing how to question them.
So what will future leaders actually need? 👇
• Sense-making in complexity
• Critical and systemic thinking
• Self-awareness under pressure
• The courage to exercise judgement
This is the real shift. Not data. But judgement.
🎧 Join us for a live online session, where Dr Chris Dalton & Valentina Mussie (Founder, Minote & Henley EMBA alumna) talk about the leadership capabilities that matter more than ever and why leaders should invest in developing them.
