While waiting for the NB-ISCAR 2022 to take place in June, why not spend Valentine's Day ❤️ stretching your conceptual and methodological CHAT-muscles in this seminar arranged by our neighbors in Moscow?
📢📢📢 Moscow State University of Psychology and Education invites you to the 9 th Meeting of the Moscow CHAT Reading Club “𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲” that will take place on 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟭𝟰 𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝘁 𝟯 𝗽.𝗺. (Moscow time) in 𝗭𝗼𝗼𝗺.
Invited experts:
✅ Katerina Plakitsi, ISCAR President, Professor of Sciences Teaching, Head of the Department of Early Childhood, President of the Department of Early Childhood Education, School of Education of the University of Ioannina, Greece.
✅ Eleni Kolokouri, Doctor, Laboratory Teaching Staff, University of Ioannina, Greece.
✅ Athina-Christina Kornelaki, Doctor, Post Doc Researcher, Department Early Childhood

Presentation title: 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗧: 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗦 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
The presentation will focus on the development of SCOPES (Systems of activity, Contradictions, Outcomes, Praxis, Expansive learning, Science education) as a new methodological tool for Science Education in early childhood and primary education. From this
perspective, a set of collaborative science education projects on Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) was analyzed. The key components of the collaborative projects were: a) the
design and the analysis of some innovative teaching learning sequences embedded in the culture and the history of science, b) the connection of the learning tasks with the societal rules,
the community of learners and the subjects, c) the object-oriented systems of activity, d) the outcome driven systems of activity, e) the actions mediated by artifacts, f) the analysis of the
contradictions emerged in the activity systems and g) the formative interventions in Science Education for expansive learning. The presentation will include a review on five doctoral theses which addresses the complexity of science teaching and learning in formal and informal settings. It introduces a multi-dynamic tool for new researchers, curriculum developers and practitioners. The ultimate scope of this attempt is to foster transformative thinking and
logical reasoning within a ultidimensional context.

In Finnish coffee table code, "no" actually means "yes", or at least "why not". Because we like coffee, we really can't say no to all the exciting abstracts you guys keep offering us - even after the first extended deadline.
So, keep those submissions pouring in until Sunday, October 31st!
(And be prepared to drink A LOT of coffee in June 2022 in Helsinki.)

A landmark in central Helsinki, the Three Smiths statue (1932) is said to symbolize work and cooperation. Funnily enough, the smiths are standing so close to each other that in reality they would be hitting each other on the head.

Taking care of each other is at the core of the Finnish mindset and society. In this spirit, we welcome you to imagine possible futures around our theme "TOWARDS INCLUSIVE AND JUST SOCIETIES".
