This week, we have been celebrating Children’s Rights Week. The topic this year has been ”every child has the right to belong and to be heard.”

By encouraging children to share their thoughts and opinions, participate, listen, and feel included, we support not just their growth — but their right to be part of a caring community 💛

Book Project 📚

Our Sharks group (5–6-year-olds) created their very own storybook by storytelling and illustrating it themselves!

Last Friday, we celebrated the release of their book “Eläintarhan taikaa” — and brought the story to life with a wonderful puppet show performed by the children.

This creative project supported children’s language skills, imagination, and teamwork —we couldn’t be prouder! 💚

Happy Father’s Day! 🌟

Dolphins (3-5-year-olds) carried out a maths activity through play. They focused on sorting toy dogs & cats using different criteria: size, colour and type.

After a group discussion on their theme; caring for pets, Dolphins children created the dream home containing everything the pets will need to be happy: food, water, a dog slide and even a toilet!

Pampered pets indeed.🐾

Last week Sharks (5-6-year-olds) took part of Traffic Safety Awareness week by Liikenneturva 🦺🚦🚸

Learning safety rules in traffic, recognizing traffic signs and discussing the possible risks while walking in the traffic. Children refreshened their minds also through play.
Such an important topic especially for preschoolers preparing for their school path.

Physical risk play in early years builds confidence, resilience, and essential problem-solving skills—helping children grow strong in body and mind.

The Starfish and Turtles groups are able to climb confidently and ask for help as needed, thanks to a lot of supervised climbing practice during the past weeks.

We are back, new adventures ahead! 💚

At By the Sea we love celebrating different cultures and traditions throughout the year. Today was all about Easter! 🐣 💚🧡Each group enjoyed their own fun-filled Easter activities, from crafts to egg hunts and more. Wishing all our families a joyful and peaceful Easter! 🥰

🐉DRAGON WORLDS 🐉
The ECEC curriculum ensures children take part in the planning process.The Seahorse group wanted to focus on dragons.
We had dragon songs, dances & dragon maths. 🎶
To finish our dragon project, the children created their own dragon world using natural found objects. Each child made a cave, so their dragon had a home. 🥰

Traveling Around the World: France 🇫🇷

Starfish group had an amazing adventure exploring France! 🇫🇷✨ We stamped our passports and dived into fun activities, like a color-matching game with the French flag colors. We engaged our senses with themed sensory play, moved our bodies in a France-inspired story PE session, and learned all about French culture. 🥰

To make our journey even more special, we listened to beautiful music from famous French composers. And the highlight? The whole daycare got to enjoy delicious crêpes, thanks to one of our wonderful French parents! 🥞❤️
