Finnish homes are just like regular homes...but with a twist 🧐🇫🇮
1. Kahvikone ☕ Finns hold the worldwide record for drinking coffee. They drink about 4-5 cups a day! Not that it was a competition, but.. and Moccamaster coffeemaker is a beloved local legend!
2. Tossut 👡 In Finland there is only one truly iconic slippee and that is the Reino&Aino handcrafted one. A national pride, some may say 😉
3. Air vents 🌬 Since winters are very cold in Finland, Finnish homes have a special system to ensure that the air inside is always fresh. No need to open your windows in -15°C 🥶
4Moomin mugs 🍵 Moomins are a national symbol in Finland, created by Tove Jansson and featured in children's books. Moomin mugs come in many colours, some are seasonal and they really mean a lot to every Finn 💕
5. The bidet 💦 Can be found even in public bathrooms, it's something you will undoubtedly miss after living in Finland for a while.
6. Reflectors 🚘 Despite the darkness during winters, Finns love to go out for evening walks at 15:30, when the sun goes down. There is no such thing as the Grinch in Finland, decorate all your bags and jackets with at least one reflector to make it home in one piece 👍
7.Ice spikes 🧊 Especially useful when the temperarures start fluctuating, ice spikes keep you from breaking your bones when the snowy pavemenrs become icy paths. (I forgot to wear mine and ended up with a broken elbow.. you live and you learn 😔)
8. Therapy lamp💡Because the winters are dark, this lamp ensures that your eyes catch some glimpse of light and, paired with Vitamin D supplements, makes you feel energised even on early mornings!
9.Bottle return ♻ Finnish people are very careful about the environment and every can, plastic or glass bottle purchased can be returned at a supermarket. Depending on the size of it, you can get 10cents or 20cents back which you can use to buy groceries or more drinkies! Ingenious 😌
There are so many more things that Finnish homes have, like a sauna or a heated room where you can hang your clothes to dry during the winter. But this was just an introduction!
