Today was one of those days… Multiple meetings scheduled at the same time, a todo-list full of reminders and of course the usual daily life to be managed 🙈

These kind of days remind me of some important questions that we should be asking when planning our days (not only when it’s necessary 😅)

❤️ What is really important?
⏰ What needs to be done NOW?
🤲 Do I need to do everything myself or can I ask for help?

In the end this is what life is all about 😌

New year but same old me 🤣 2020 was a tough one but for me there were also happy moments thanks to my baby girl and the birth of my baby boy 💙 doesn’t leave much time to slow down and reflect so you have to take it when you can. Even a few minutes goes a long way. That was my resolution for this year: practice mindfulness each day ☯️

Have been busy with mom duties lately but this post I read is worth sharing. Here’s the text in English paraphrased:

About self worth

A speaker began with a 20 euro bill in his hand and asked the audience: “Who would like this bill? Raise your hand.” Many people raised their hand.

The speaker took the note, crumpled it in his hand and asked again: “Who now would like this bill? Raise your hand.” Many again raised their hands.

The speaker then threw the bill on the floor, stomped on it and repeated his question: “Who now would like this bill? Raise your hand.” Yet again, as many raised their hands.

The speaker concluded: “Ladies and gentlemen, you have now witnessed an important lesson. No matter how much the bill is crumpled, stomped on or destroyed, you all still want it because you know it still has the same value.”

The same might happen to us. Life may beat you down and crush you. Our choices might lead us to problems. No matter what happens in life that does does not take away your value. You are special, valuable and worthy

Eräs puhuja aloitti puheensa pitäen 20 euron seteliä kädessään. Hän kysyi kuulijoiltaan: “Kuka haluaisi tämän kahden kympin setelin?”

Käsiä alkoi nousta ylös.

Puhuja sanoi: ”Annan tämän yhdelle teistä, m***a ensin teen tämän.” Hän rutisti setelin kädessään pieneksi kasaksi, ja kysyi: ”Kuka vielä haluaa tämän?”

Vieläkin kädet nousivat ilmaan.

“Entä jos teen näin?” Hän pudotti setelimytyn lattialle ja tallasi sen päälle kengällään. Sen jälkeen hän poimi maasta ruttuisen ja likaisen setelin. “Vieläkö joku haluaa tämän?”

Edelleen käsiä nousi ilmaan.

“Hyvät ystävät, olette juuri oppineet tärkeän läksyn. Teinpä tälle setelille mitä tahansa, te haluatte sen, koska sen arvo on edelleen sama. Se on vieläkin 20 euron arvoinen.”

Meillekin käy joskus niin, että meidät lytätään tai poljetaan maahan. Valintamme tai elämän olosuhteet saattavat aiheuttaa meille ongelmia.

Tapahtuipa elämässäsi mitä vain, et koskaan menetä arvoasi! Sinä olet erityinen ja arvokas - älä koskaan unohda sitä!

One month till my due date and I wrote some thoughts in my blog. This time in Finnish only, sorry :)

Esikoisen syntymä oli ehdottomasti elämäni suurin muutos. Se on ollut ihanaa, pelottavaa, väsyttävää ja elämää mullistavaa. Olen oppinut paljon äitiydestä, m***a myös elämästä ja itsestäni. Saattaa kuulostaa kliseeltä, m***a lapsen saaminen on todellakin tuonut elämälleni ihan uu...

Have you heard of Ikigai? This was something new I learnt a while back in a speech about meaningful work. According to Wikipedia “Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being." The word "ikigai" is usually used to indicate the source of value in one's life or the things that make one's life worthwhile. The word translated to English roughly means "thing that you live for" or "the reason for which you wake up in the morning."
