Dear HBG students

The course on how to write a Bachelor´s thesis is on the course tray for the autumn term on weeks 38-44 on Tuesdays either in the morning or in the afternoon (please, check the exact dates and times in Sharepoint). It is directed to students planning to start their Bachelor´s thesis process or to students already starting to write their thesis. The contents are e.g. the whole process of Bachelor´s thesis writing including the maturity test, the different parts of a Bachelor´s thesis and their content, academic writing and writing a thesis plan. The credits, 5 cr, will be added to your elective studies/language skills credits.

Enrolment in August on weeks 34-36 by e-mail to Mirja Villman personally.

Syksyn ensimmäinen ONT-päivä toteutetaan tiivistetyssä muodossaan ensi perjantaina 24.8. klo 9-11 Isossa Auditoriossa (120). Teemana ovat ONT-prosessi ja ONT-tila Laurea Livessä. /We will organize the first Thesis Day on next Friday, 24th August at 9-11 am, in Auditorium (room 120).

British Council Finland is looking for an intern to work in Society and Arts programme areas. The intern will be supporting and working closely with the Finnish team in the cultural relations work and have the opportunity to develop professional skills in an international context.

The intern will support the implementation of various projects run in the Society and Arts Programmes. This includes varied tasks in project work and communications. The intern’s responsibilities will also include organising different events, administrative tasks and carrying out general office tasks at the British Council. In addition to the tasks directly related to the British Council’s work, the intern will become part of the Hub Helsinki community and work as a Host twice a week.

The internship is targeted at outstanding young professionals or university students. A suitable candidate has a degree in human science, for example social sciences, humanities or cultural studies (University / university of applied sciences). We value initiative, organisational and team working skills, flexibility and hope that the applicant has ability to multitask and prioritise. Experience in coordination work and communications (especially in social media) is considered an advantage. Fluency in spoken and written Finnish and English is essential.

The intern must be able to secure funding for the internship him/herself, for example through their university, or through the employment office (työelämävalmennus).

The duration of the internship will be between 3 and 6 months, depending on agreement. The starting date for this post is 15 August, 2012 or soon after.

Applications (CV and cover letter) should be submitted to [email protected] by Wednesday 13 June, 2012. Interviews for short listed candidates will be held on Wednesday 20 June, 2012.
