Structured Dialogue for Peace & Inclusion
The Children and Youth Relief Organization (CYRO) hosted a Structured Dialogue between Youth, Elders, and Decision-Makers on May 3–4, 2026 at Hadiya Hotel.
This forum brought together youth, elders, religious leaders, and local government officials to sit together, listen, and openly discuss issues affecting their community. It created a space where young people could share their perspectives on peace and governance directly with decision-makers.
What we achieved:
✔️ Created a safe space for honest and open dialogue
✔️ Strengthened understanding and trust between generations
✔️ Agreed on joint recommendations to address key community issues
✔️ Captured important ideas to guide future peacebuilding efforts
This dialogue is an important step toward building stronger relationships, inclusive governance, and lasting peace.
CYRO sincerely thanks all participants and partners who made this dialogue meaningful and impactful.

Training and Expansion of Youth Ambassadors – Warder, Dollo Zone

The Children and Youth Relief Organization (CYRO) successfully conducted a training and expansion session for Youth Ambassadors in Warder, Dollo Zone. During the session, 10 youth ambassadors were strengthened and empowered to enhance their roles in community engagement and peacebuilding initiatives.
The training was facilitated by Abdimalik Ahmed, Communication Director of CYRO, who provided guidance and capacity-building support to the participants.

CYRO Empowers Youth Through Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution Training!
Today, at Tuliguleed, the Children and Youth Relief Organization (CYRO) successfully implemented a half-day training on Peacebuilding, Conflict Resolution, and Negotiation Skills, alongside the formation of Youth Peace Circles.
The training was attended by 10 youth participants. In the final session, the group worked together to establish a Youth Peace Circle, which will meet bi-monthly and serve as ambassadors of peace and dialogue within their communities.
This important activity was implemented under the Conciliation Resources fund, supported by Irish Aid. At CYRO, we remain committed to building a new generation of peacebuilders!

Advanced Training on Conflict Transformation and Mediation Skills
CYRO recently conducted an Training on Conflict Transformation and Mediation Skills as part of its commitment to building peaceful and resilient communities.
The training enhanced participants’ capacity in:
~ Understanding root causes of conflict
~ Applying mediation techniques
~ Promoting dialogue and reconciliation
This initiative reflects CYRO’s ongoing work in empowering youth and community actors to play a key role in peacebuilding at the grassroots level.

Digital Peacebuilding Initiative
Cyro successfully conducted a training program empowering 28 youth from the Somali Region with skills in digital storytelling, content creation, and media literacy. The goal was to equip participants to counter hate speech and promote peaceful narratives online.
The initiative fostered cross-clan collaboration and amplified youth voices for peace across the region.

CYRO Strengthens Youth Leadership for Peace!
From December 6–8, CYRO successfully held a transformative Core Youth Support and Training on YPS & Leadership program in Jigjiga.
Over 48 youth from the Somali Region and border woredas participated in intensive sessions on the UN Youth, Peace & Security (YPS) Agenda, leadership, and conflict sensitivity.
Through interactive workshops and the “Do No Harm" approach, participants explored the five YPS pillars and developed practical policy recommendations to advance youth inclusion in peace processes.
Standout youth were recognized for their strong leadership, teamwork, and commitment to peace—marking a meaningful step toward Youth-led peacebuilding in the region.

Role of Youth in the Somali Peace Agend
📍 Masaf Space, Jigjiga
CYRO successfully delivered an active and engaging youth session focusing on the Role of Youth in the Somali Peace Agenda. This sub-activity brought together youth from Awbare, Harshin, Jigjiga, members of Youth Peace Circles (YPC), and other youth leaders committed to peace and community resilience.
During the session, we created space for youth to:
✔️ Share real experiences from border woredas
✔️ Discuss conflict drivers affecting their communities
✔️ Explore their roles in prevention, mediation, and peacebuilding
✔️ Identify challenges such as unemployment, migration, exclusion, and security risks
✔️ Propose practical solutions to strengthen youth inclusion in the SRS Peace Architecture
Youth participants made strong and inspiring interventions, highlighting actionable recommendations to improve trust, strengthen local peace structures, and promote youth-led initiatives that support social cohesion.
This activity reaffirmed that youth are essential drivers of peace in the Somali Region, and their leadership is central to building a more inclusive and sustainable peace agenda.
