At least 103 people are dead and more than 1,3000 missing across western Europe as rivers and reservoirs burst their banks, triggering flash floods.
Heavy rains and floods lashing western Europe have killed at least 80 people in Germany and 23 in Belgium, and many more people are missing as rising waters caused several houses to collapse on Thursday.
Unusually heavy rains also inundated neighboring Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
In Germany, which is experiencing one of the worst weather disasters since the Second World War, desperate residents sought refuge on the roofs of their homes as rescue helicopters circled above.

Landslide
Natural disasters always caused fear and horror in people. The greatest horror is caused by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis that are unpredictable and catastrophic in their consequences. The most unpredictable are earthquakes. Landslide is a major geological hazard, which poses a serious threat to the human population, and various infrastructures such as highways, rail routes, and civil structures such as dams, buildings, and others. Landslides cause huge damage in the world and kill many people each year. Casualties are caused by rockslides, rockfalls, and debris falls. In order to know this phenomenon better, and eventually protect themselves from its destructive action, people should be aware of how landslides are formed and how they act.
The problem of landslide risk management is considered as a measure leading to landslides risk reduction. It includes landslides monitoring, mapping, landslide forecast, engineering works, slopes strengthen, insurance, and others. Strictly speaking, geological risk management includes: Hazard identification; Vulnerability evaluation; Risk analysis; Concept of acceptable risk; Risk assessment; Risk mapping; Measures for risk reduction; legislative; organizational, and administrative; economic, including insurance;
engineering and technical; modeling; monitoring; and information.
