Dear Esteemed Clinical Year I Students,

On behalf of EMSA-Jigjiga, it is with great honor and profound admiration that we extend our warmest congratulations to you all on the occasion of your White Coat Ceremony.

This symbolic event marks a pivotal transition — from the realm of theoretical learning to the hands-on practice of clinical medicine. Wearing the white coat is not merely a ceremonial gesture; it is a profound commitment to the principles of compassion, integrity, and lifelong pursuit of excellence in healthcare.

As you step into this new and demanding chapter, may the white coat you don today serve as a constant reminder of the trust society places in you and the responsibility you bear to uphold the highest standards of care.

Once again, congratulations and best wishes on behalf of EMSA-Jigjiga.

With utmost pride,
EMSA-Jigjiga
more than just students

Yesterday, we had a meeting with Dr. Alemseged Woretaw, a Doctor of Medicine from Gonder Medical School, with a Master of Science in Medical Biochemistry from Addis Ababa University, and a fellowship in leadership and public management from Georgia State University. He is also a Mandela Fellow, a senior capacity-building and educational advisor for JHPIEGO, the coordinator for the National Board of Examinations, and a member of the Ethiopian Medical Association.

During the meeting, we discussed various topics, but the most important was the accreditation of Jigjiga University. As students, the key responsibility they expect from us is to ensure active participation in the student satisfaction survey. Let’s get ready—we have a lot of work ahead.
