Our Grade 7 students have done it again! 🌟
Last week, they competed at the Wereda-level science fair against 8 schools — and swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Their projects were then selected to represent our school at the sub‑city science fair, where they once again ranked 1st, 2nd, and 3rd among 100+ schools.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there —
🎉 Our 1st‑place project has now advanced to the city‑level competition this weekend!

This winning project, created by our two brilliant Grade 7 girls, is a manually operated water pump designed for rural communities. It uses a hand‑crank generator to pump water into an elevated tank, which then produces additional electricity through a turbine before feeding an irrigation system. Innovation with purpose — created by young minds with big vision.

We couldn’t be prouder of their creativity, teamwork, and commitment to solving real‑world problems. 🌱💡

Yes — third place in the whole city!

**In Loving Memory of Baby Biruktawit** 🌸

Baby Biruktawit was unlike any other child. Born with extraordinary challenges and disabilities, her heart positioned completely differently, with multiple holes, narrow arteries and veins, missing an arm, and to make things worse without one of the excretion passage hole. —she faced life with a strength that inspired everyone around her.

Since 2016 , Brighton Academy of Excellence along Brighton Their World stood by her side, providing milk and diapers, for her every single day use and support for her medical needs. Through every struggle, her mother never left her side, showing us the true meaning of love and resilience.

Last Monday, at just 12 years old, Baby Biruktawit’s courageous journey came to an end. Though her time with us was short, her story is one of bravery, hope, faith, endurance and the power of community.

🙏 Let us come together to support her family, especially her mother, who carried her through every step of this difficult journey. Your kindness and solidarity can help ease their burden during this heartbreaking time.

Brighton Academy Of Excellence is thrilled to kick off our very first annual chess tournament! Chess isn’t just a game—it’s a workout for the brain. 🧠 It helps students sharpen their memory, improve problem-solving skills, and boost concentration, making it a powerful tool for learning both inside and outside the classroom.

👥 **Competition Highlights:**
- Grade 7: 18 students in 9 groups
- Grade 8: 20 students in 10 groups
- Total: 38 brilliant minds competing!
- Each player will face their group opponents **three times**
- Only **19 players** will advance to Round Two

Stay tuned—we’ll share updates as soon as Round One is finalized. The battle of strategy and skill has begun, and we can’t wait to see who rises to the challenge! 🏆♟️

Last time we shared, grocery costs had tripled due to inflation—but we never stopped providing. Today, those costs have **quadrupled** since our last post, yet our commitment remains unshaken.

💪 Thanks to the unwavering generosity of our supporters and the blessings of the Almighty God, our students are still nourished, cared for, and thriving.

Together, we prove that no challenge is too great when community and faith stand strong. 🙏❤️

We are bursting with pride as we celebrate our incredible former students who just aced the Grade 12 National Exam — Ethiopia’s college entrance exam! 🙌

Though Brighton Academy only goes up to Grade 8, we didn’t stop there. We continued to sponsor these brilliant minds through private high school, believing in their potential every step of the way. And this year, they proved us right — in the most extraordinary way.

Out of the 585,882 students who took the exam nationwide, only 48,929 passed — a mere 8.4%. To pass, students needed to score at least **300 out of 600 total questions, spanning six different subjects. And guess what? Every single one of our sponsored students scored amazing results and are among that elite 8.4%!💥

Is it a miracle? Maybe. But we know it’s also the result of relentless hard work, unwavering support, and the power of opportunity. 💪📚
