What does peace mean to you?
We asked students, educators and other stakeholders involved in the Enabling University Peace Education (EUPE) programme in Ethiopia to share what peace means to them.
Their answers offer different perspectives - but together, they reveal an important idea: peace is not only something to hope for. It is something that can be learned, practised and built.

Through EUPE, universities are helping young people develop the knowledge and skills to engage with issues of peace and conflict, while creating opportunities to take learning beyond the classroom and into their communities.

Our new Arts as Peacebuilding research draws on case studies from Sudan, Myanmar, Syria and Ukraine, alongside insights from the Baltic States, Colombia and Northern Ireland. The research does not suggest that the arts automatically build peace. It explores how creative practice can help sustain dignity, trust, memory, participation, connection and hope, while recognising the risks and realities of working in conflict-affected settings.
