Good Shepherd School, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Mrs. Grace Anderson, as she was known at GSS, passed from this world last week. Being at our school from the opening to the closing, she will be remembered by all the students and staff. We were very fortunate to have her either as our dorm mother, music or elementary class teacher, kitchen supervisor, chapel pianist, chaperone and whatever other temporary roles she assumed while also raising her children and caring for a very busy husband during those years. Many former GSS students and staff stayed at Nairobi's Mennonite Guest House while vacationing, later renamed Amani Gardens Inn . It opened in 1964 and was closed just a couple years ago for good. Did the Lehmans manage it for a time? Before that (and maybe still in business) there was the Africa Inland Mission Guest House (Mayfield Guest House (AIM) International). Maybe the SIM Guest House was the closest thing in Addis but it was not on the same level by a long shot.

1969? - elementary grades teacher, Betty Hershey, taught from 1966-69. Has anyone kept up on her life after GSS?

1963 - Field day winners.

1967 - JV Basketball players with coach Dan Malloy, skins vs. shirts. In the photo with the players in a huddle I see Carol Hoekstra, Jane Kurtz, Lou Ann Raymond, Kathy Head, Terri Zudweg and Janice Priest spectating.

These photos were taken in 1969. Looks like a game of students vs. parents? Seems like Baptist GC parents predominate.
