አዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የህፃናት ማቆያ ማዕከል የሽኝትና የምርቃት መርሃ ግብር አካሄደ
ነሃሴ 28/2018 ዓ.ም

አዲስ አበባ ሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የሴት ሰራተኞችን ሁለንተናዊ ደህንነትና ማህበራዊ ፍላጎት ለመደገፍ የሚያስችሉ ስራዎችን እየሰራ ይገኛል ። የተቋሙ ሴት ሰራተኞች ልጆቻቸውን በቅርበት እየተንከባከቡና ጤናማ አካባቢ በመፍጠር ስራቸውን በብቃት እንዲወጡ ለማስቻል በሴቶችና ማህበራዊ አካቶ ትግበራ ስራ አስፈፃሚ አማካኝነት የህፃናት ማቆያ ማዕከል አቋቁሞ እያገለገለ ይገኛል።
ማዕከሉ ከተመሰረተበት ከ2016 ዓ.ም ጀምሮ በርካታ ህፃናት እስከ ቅድመ አንደኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ዕድሜ እስኪደርሱ ድረስ ተገቢውን የስነ-ልቦና፣ የአካል እና የስነ-ምግባር ክትትል እየተደረገላቸው ቆይቷል።
በዚህ አውድ «ከማቆያ ወደ ቅድመ አንደኛ» በሚል መሪ ሃሳብ የተካሄደው የዛሬው የሽኝትና የምርቃት መርሃ ግብር የዚህ ማዕከል ውጤት ማሳያ ነው።
በዚህም መሰረት 23 ህፃናት በማቆያው ቆይታቸውን በአግባቡ በማጠናቀቅ ወደ ቅድመ አንደኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት ተሸኝተዋል።
የማቆያ ጊዜያችሁን ያጠናቀቃችሁ ህፃናት እንኳን ደስ አላችሁ!

🎓 Ph.D. Student Nigussie Kefelegn Successfully Defends His Dissertation

Nigussie Kefelegn, a Ph.D. candidate from the department of biotechnology at AASTU, has successfully defended his dissertation titled “Characterization and Genome-Wide Association Mapping of Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) Germplasm for Key Agro-Morphological Traits in Ethiopia.”
He conducted his research under the supervision of Dr. Solomon Benor, with Dr. Gizachew Haile, Dr. Asnake Fikre and Prof. Martin J. Barbetti serving as co-advisors.
His research focuses on characterizing Ethiopian lentil germplasm and identifying important genetic associations related to key agro-morphological traits, contributing valuable insights for lentil breeding and crop improvement.

🎓 Three Ph.D. Candidates Successfully Defend Their Dissertations at AASTU

Three Ph.D. candidates from Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) have successfully defended their dissertations, presenting innovative research addressing important challenges in renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, and environmental engineering.
🔹 Yigzaw Likina defended his dissertation titled “Modelling and Optimising of Biogas Production Anaerobically Co-Digestion Water Hyacinth, Macroalgae, and Poultry Manure: High-Pressure Water Scrubbing Simulation.” He conducted his research under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Essayas Alemayehu and Dr. Zemene Worku. His research focuses on optimizing biogas production through the anaerobic co-digestion of organic materials and improving biogas purification through high-pressure water scrubbing simulation.
🔹 Shimelis Tamene , from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing Engineering Stream), defended his dissertation titled “Characterization and Investigation of Process Parameters Effects on 3D-Printed Polyether Ether Ketone for Dental Application.” He conducted his research under the supervision of Dr. Abraham Debebe Woldeyohannes (Ph.D.). His study explores the properties and processing parameters of 3D-printed PEEK materials for potential applications in dental technology.
🔹 Genetu Tesfa , from the Department of Environmental Engineering, defended his dissertation titled “Development and Application of Iron-Based Electro-Fenton Catalyst for Ceftriaxone Degradation in Hospital Wastewater.” He conducted his research under the supervision of Dr. Abebe Worku, Dr. Tsedekech G/Meskel, and Dr. Jemal Fito. His research focuses on developing an advanced treatment method for removing pharmaceutical contaminants from hospital wastewater, contributing to safer and more sustainable water management.

AASTU Signs MoU with ADG Engineering and Technologies

Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with African Development Group (ADG) Engineering and Technologies to strengthen academia–industry collaboration.
The partnership will promote cooperation in research, innovation, knowledge exchange, capacity building, technology transfer, and professional mobility.
Through this collaboration, AASTU and ADG Engineering and Technologies will work together to create opportunities for students, researchers, academics, and professionals while contributing to Ethiopia’s science, technology, engineering, and innovation ecosystem.

🎓 Ph.D. Student Yesufikad Fentie Successfully Defends His Dissertation

Yesufikad Fentie, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing Engineering) under the School of Postgraduate Studies at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), has successfully defended his dissertation titled “Investigation of the Mechanical and Tribological Properties of AA6082/Al₂O₃ Nanocomposites for Brake Disc Application.”
He conducted his research under the supervision of Dr. Abraham Debebe (Ph.D.).
Yesufikad’s research focuses on investigating advanced aluminum-based nanocomposite materials for brake disc applications, with particular emphasis on their mechanical and tribological properties. The study contributes to the development of lightweight, durable, and high-performance materials for automotive applications.
