💩 LET'S TALK ABOUT P**P!
Part 5: Why Does P**p Smell So Bad?
Can your nose tell you something about your gut health?

👃 Let's be honest...

P**p isn't supposed to smell like roses. 🌹😂

But...

Have you ever walked into the bathroom and thought...

"Wow... that doesn't seem normal!"

Believe it or not...

The smell of your p**p can sometimes provide clues about what's happening inside your digestive system.

So...

When is a bad smell normal... and when should you pay attention?

💩 First Things First...
ALL p**p smells.

Yes... everyone's.

The odor comes from the trillions of bacteria living in your intestines. As they break down the food you eat, they produce gases containing sulfur compounds and other natural by-products.

In other words...

👉 A smell is completely normal.

The goal isn't odorless p**p.

👃 Why Does It Sometimes Smell Much Worse?
Several everyday things can make stool smell stronger than usual.

🥩 Certain Foods
Foods rich in sulfur often create a stronger odor.

Examples include:

🥚 Eggs

🥦 Broccoli

🥬 Cabbage

🧄 Garlic

🧅 Onions

Large amounts of meat can also produce a stronger smell.

This doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong.

🦠 Changes in Your Gut Bacteria
Your gut contains trillions of helpful bacteria.

When that balance changes—after an illness, certain medications (such as antibiotics), or major dietary changes—your stool odor may change too.

🚽 Food Isn't Being Fully Digested
Sometimes your body doesn't absorb nutrients as well as it should.

When undigested food reaches the colon, bacteria ferment it, producing more gas and a stronger odor.

If foul-smelling stool is persistent and accompanied by weight loss, diarrhea, greasy stools, or other digestive symptoms, it's important to be evaluated by a healthcare professional.

🤢 Stomach or Intestinal Infections
Some infections can cause stool to become much more foul-smelling than usual.

They often occur along with symptoms such as:

• Diarrhea

• Stomach cramps

• Fever

• Nausea

These symptoms should not be ignored, especially if severe or persistent.

🌬️ It's Not Just the Smell...
Pay attention if your stool suddenly becomes:

⚠️ Extremely foul-smelling

💩 LET'S TALK ABOUT P**P!
Part 3: Meet the Bristol Stool Chart

The simple tool healthcare professionals use to understand your bowel health.

Did you know your p**p has a "grading system"? 🤔

Believe it or not...

Healthcare professionals around the world use a simple chart called the Bristol Stool Chart to better understand what's happening inside your digestive system.

It's not about judging your p**p...

It's about learning what your body is trying to tell you.

Let's take a look!

💩 Type 1
🟤 Separate hard pellets (like small marbles)
These are small, hard lumps that are difficult to pass.

👉 This usually suggests constipation.

Your stool has stayed in the colon too long, allowing too much water to be absorbed.

What can help?
💧 Drink enough water.
🥗 Eat more fiber-rich foods.
🚶 Stay physically active.
🚽 Don't ignore the urge to have a bowel movement.

💩 Type 2
🟤 Lumpy sausage
It looks like one piece but has many lumps.

This is also considered a sign of mild constipation.

Your bowel is moving—but more slowly than it should.

💩 Type 3
🟤 Sausage with cracks on the surface
Good news!

This is generally considered healthy.

Your stool is formed, easy to pass, and moving through the digestive tract at a healthy pace.

💩 Type 4 ⭐
🟤 Smooth, soft, sausage or snake-shaped
This is considered the ideal stool.

It passes easily.

It holds its shape.

It usually reflects healthy digestion, adequate hydration, and good bowel function.

This is the goal for most people.

💩 Type 5
🟤 Soft blobs with clear edges
This may mean food is moving through your digestive system a little faster than usual.

Occasionally, this isn't a cause for concern.

However, if it's your regular pattern, you may benefit from reviewing your diet, fiber intake, or discussing it with a healthcare professional if accompanied by other symptoms.

💩 Type 6
🟤 Mushy stool with ragged edges
This is loose stool.

It often happens when the colon doesn't have enough time to absorb water.

Possible reasons include:

• Certain foods

• Stress

• Infections

• Digestive conditions

If it continues for several days or keeps returning, it's worth discussing with your healthcare provider.
