A 500 m vertical curve connects a -1.50% grade to a +2.50% grade. The P.I. is located
at station 130+000 and elevation of 1560.000 m above sea level. A pipe is to be located at
the low point on the vertical curve. The roadway at this point consists of two 3.65 m
lanes with a normal crown slope of 2.5%. The roadway also has a 2.5m shoulder with a cross slope of -4% on both sides. If the lowest point on the surface of the shoulder of roadway
must clear the pipe by 1.50 m,
a) what is the station and maximum elevation of the pipe?
b) If the pipe has an internal diameter of 1.22 m and a thickness of 0.1 m, what is the invert elevation of the pipe?
