Annual Nobel Lunch at Kelem International School
Our annual Nobel Lunch brought the school community together for a special gathering dedicated to celebrating Nobel Prize winners and honoring outstanding achievements in science, literature, and humanitarian fields.
The event provided a meaningful opportunity for students and families to reflect on global contributions that inspire innovation, creativity, and positive change in our world.

Inspiring Voices & Student Well-Being at Kelem.
Last week, we were honored to welcome Lemn Sissay to our school. He shared his life journey with our students, engaged in a thoughtful Q&A session, and read one of his powerful poems, leaving a lasting impression on our community.
In addition, the WHO team visited Kelem International School to conduct Stress Management Simulation Activities for Grades 6–9. These sessions supported students in building self-awareness, resilience, and healthy coping strategies.
We are grateful to our guests for enriching our students’ learning and well-being.

Celebrating Student Initiative & Engagement
Today, Grades 8 & 9 led an energizing assembly featuring bouncing-ball activities, throwing and catching challenges, and mental focus exercises all designed to strengthen listening, coordination, and concentration skills.
We are also proud to recognize Rakeb Zerihun Gebrie for generously donating books to support our school’s growing reading culture. Her kindness sets a remarkable example of student leadership and community impact.

📖Reading Week Highlights at Kelem International School
Last week, our community came together to celebrate the joy of reading through a series of engaging and purposeful activities.
✨ We hosted a vibrant Book Fair, giving students access to exciting new titles.
✨ Representatives from Ethiopia Reads (ኢትዮጲያ ታንብብ) joined us for a special story time with our kindergarten students. Our learners also donated books to support children in need, contributing to Ethiopia Reads’ mission of expanding literacy.
✨ Grade 1 transformed their classroom into a warm and creative Reading Café, encouraging students to read, share, and enjoy stories together.
✨ We wrapped up the week with a memorable Reading Night, followed by a fun and relaxing Movie Night for our families.

Last week wrapped up beautifully with a lively Grade 2 assembly! Through a thoughtful dialogue presentation, our young learners shared an inspiring message that success comes with perseverance, and we should never give up!

PBL Presentations & Voices of the Planet Guest Session
Our students recently showcased their Problem-Based Learning (PBL) projects to their teachers and parents, highlighting creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving skills.
As part of our Voices of the Planet series, we were honored to host Mr. Firew Kefyalew, founder of Plogging Ethiopia. He and his family volunteer weekly to collect plastic waste in the Entoto area — a true inspiration for environmental responsibility and community action.

Inspiring Change Through Learning!
This week at Kelem International School, our classrooms came alive with Problem-Based Learning (PBL) projects centered around the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students explored real-world issues from climate action to equality through inquiry, creativity, and collaboration.
As part of our ongoing PBL theme, “Voices of the Planet,” we were honored to host Ms. Maria Tadesse Tamrat, Africa Climate Analyst at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). She shared valuable insights on sustainable development and climate action, inspiring our students to think critically about their role in shaping a better world.
We’re proud of our learners’ passion and curiosity as they prepare to present their final PBL projects next week. The future truly looks bright with such engaged global citizens in the making!

🎓🌧️ Rainy Season Program Wrap-Up
Our 2025 Rainy Season Program has officially come to a close! Over six exciting weeks, students explored creativity, movement, and innovation through themed weeks like Color Week, Sports Week, Water Week and so on, featuring activities in Art, Robotics, Tennis, Swimming, and more.
A big thank you to our students, staff, and families for making this program a memorable success. We’re proud to have provided a safe, enriching space for learning and fun during the break.
