This popular Amharic saying reminds us that small progress — no matter how slow — will eventually lead you to your goal.
How to use this:
You can use this saying when telling people about your Amharic journey. If you do, you’ll surprise and impress a lot of Habeshas! — because most people expect you to know greetings, not advanced expressions like this.
For example:
You can say:
“Amarnya tənəsh tənəsh əchlaläw… K’äs bä k’äs ənk’ulal bä əgəru yəhedal.”
(I speak a little Amharic… Slowly, the egg starts walking.)
Just like a chick breaking free from its shell and learning to walk, your Amharic journey starts with small steps. Every step counts! And remember, small steps every day get compounded!
K'äs bä k'äs ənk'ulal bä əgəru yəhedal!
