Each language comes with its own challenges and advantages.
🇻🇳 Vietnamese, for example, is a tonal language, which makes it much more difficult to read and write than Spanish, where words are generally written as they are pronounced. On the other hand, Vietnamese has no verb conjugation: the verb remains unchanged regardless of tense or subject. ✌️
🇫🇷 French, however, is particularly challenging due to its spelling and its highly complex system of conjugation, which can be difficult to master not only for foreigners but even for native speakers. Many French people, for instance, would struggle to conjugate the verb “peigner” (to comb) in the passé simple for the second person plural: “vous peignâtes.” 😵💫
🙌🏻 Maya has learned to adapt to the unique features of each language she speaks, and this kind of mental flexibility is one of the undeniable advantages of being bilingual or multilingual.
Introduce your children to a second language from a very early age: there is no need, and it may even be counterproductive, to wait until they are older. PequeLingüe can support you on this journey, so don’t hesitate to get in touch!
