The poster made by Liinu, a student of Gaudia's fine arts line, has won the high school category of the Lahti Environmental Week poster competition. Concratulations Liinu! The topic of the poster was sustainable lifestyle.

Utopias Lahti 2023 is a visual arts festival centered around artistic practices that activate speculation, conjecture and imagination as catalysts for systemic change. Utopias Lahti takes place in the city of Lahti, Finland in May 2023. In its construction the festival aims to develop new ecological exhibition practices for the presentation of media art and visual art through local circular economy. Gaudia’s Art Students took part in UTOPIAS festival by making cyanotypes. The name of their exhibition is Imagined Realities.

Our STArt! Erasmus project is about to end. The partners gathered together for the last time in La Vall d´Uixo. In addition to monitoring, checking the budget and other formalities, we had time to make art and enjoy the world's best homemade paella and Spanish sun. We are happy to share the pedagogical plan of the butterfly project for all of those who are interested to teach biodiversity and sustainability through art.

🇬🇷 "The school recently purchased new recycling bins as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability. These bins will allow students and staff to easily recycle plastics, paper, and other waste, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment.

🇪🇺 The initiative to purchase recycling bins was triggered by the school's participation in the Project 🅢🅣🅐🅡🅣! , which focuses on promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness of environmental issues among young people in Europe. The project, which is co-funded by the European Union, aims to inspire young people to take action to protect the planet and create a more sustainable future.

♻️ As part of the project, students and staff of the Music School of Trikala are working on various environmental initiatives, such as reducing plastic waste, saving water, and promoting energy efficiency. The purchase of the new recycling bins is just one example of the school's commitment to sustainability and its involvement in the project.
The new recycling bins are designed to make it easier for students and staff to recycle, with clear labels and color-coded sections for different types of waste. The school has also launched a to encourage students to use bins properly and raise awareness about the importance of recycling.

Environmental art, nature trail, beehives, meadow plants, benches, light art, picnic area, berry bushes, birdlife, fitness stairs, etc. How could Gaudia's nearby nature best serve you and your study well-being? And how could nature and its diversity be utilized in teaching? Starting next fall, more than 2,000 children and young people will spend a large part of their day at the Paavola campus. Behind the campus rises a forested ridge, which the children, young people and teachers of the campus area could use in teaching and daily activities, if the area were to be developed. Visual arts students participate in Lahti's participatory budgeting, where €200,000 is allocated for the development of different areas of Lahti. Leave your ideas in the survey in Wilma. Visual arts students take all answers into account when applying. 😊🌿🌻🐾

Finnish students have prepared a large cardboard container in which we will ask Gaudia’s students to collect the used coffee mugs. Based on the sampling and the information received from the cafeteria, we will calculate how many disposable cups the school uses during one semester. Our goal is to reduce the use of single-use containers and to arrange proper recycling for the rest of the waste.

Finnish students drink quite a lot of coffee at school. Coffee is often bought in a disposable take a way mug. Gaudia's START- students have contacted the school canteen and received permission to sell the first trial batch of 100 reusable cups in the cafeteria, which aims to reduce the waste caused by disposable cups. We are currently planning the appearance of the cups.

On the second day of the meeting, we worked in a Visual Art Museum Malva, where we had the opportunity to manage the project, discuss topics and monitor the progress of planned activities.

📣 During the autumn, strategies will be implemented in Greece, Finland and Spain in the 3 schools of the partnership with different events, workshops and peer to peer awareness campaigns.

🍀 So as to empower our young active leaders, critical and aware citizens, to fight for the preservation of biodiversity against climate change, through artistic techniques.

Last week, our Erasmus team met in Lahti, Finland. On the first day, we got to know Lahti high school Gaudia and the achievements of Lahti Euroopan Green capital year 2021, in which the active citizents had a major role in. We also made plans how the students would continue their projects and still meet each other through virtual meetings. At the end of the day, we enjoyed the autumn evening at the nature reserve by the lake, frying sausage and stick buns.
