IELTS Speaking Part 3
Theme: Fashion + Clothes
SCRIPT
Can clothes tell you a lot about a person?
Yeah, definitely. Sometimes clothes can tell you a lot about a person. Some people purposefully express their personality through their clothes. So, you can tell what kind of music and bands people like, what kind of politics they're into or how they lead their life… the type of lifestyle they lead through the clothes and their sense of fashion.
Also, clothes are kind of associated with social status. So, for example, if somebody is wearing a, a new Rolex and lots of kind of designer gear, then it could signify that they have a lot of money. And likewise, if somebody's clothes are really kind of torn and dirty, it can signify that there they might be down on their luck.
However, there is a famous phrase that says you should never judge a book by the cover. So, we have to be aware of that as well.

Sentence 5 – Also (Linking similar ideas)
Sentence 6 – So, for example (Linking a result with an example)
Sentence 7 – And, likewise (Linking similar ideas)
Sentence 8 – However (Linking an opposing view)
Note that you do not hear any formal linking words such as ‘furthermore’ as they are not appropriate in the speaking exam.
