The Science Experiment You Didn't See Coming 🥒⚡
What happens when you put a pickle on electricity?
Apparently…
IT GLOWS.
Yes. The humble pickle can become a bizarre little science experiment.
The trick involves running an electrical current through the salty, acidic pickle.
Because pickles contain ions and electrolytes, they can conduct electricity.
And when the current passes through the pickle, the sodium ions and other components help create the conditions for an impressive glow.
It looks completely ridiculous.
It also happens to demonstrate some very real chemistry and physics.
This is one of those experiments where you start by thinking:
"Who on Earth thought of this?"
…and finish by accidentally learning about electrical conductivity.
QI takes this kind of weird demonstration and turns it into exactly what science should sometimes be:
surprising, slightly ridiculous, and impossible to forget.
🧠 Science Bitch verdict: the pickle really can glow, but it isn't magically producing light because it's a pickle. The effect depends on the electrical setup, the pickle's composition and the way current interacts with the material.
Basically:
Don't try random electricity experiments with your lunch. 😂
💬 What food would YOU test with electricity if science had absolutely no safety rules?
❤️ Like if you never looked at a pickle the same way again.
👥 Tag the friend who would actually try this.
