🍌🍏 At least 45% of fruits and vegetables in school canteens will have to be in season

Bustinduy has presented this Wednesday in Valencia the news of the new royal decree, which also limits ultra-processed and introduces ecological products

The Minister of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030, Pablo Bustinduy, announced this Wednesday in Valencia that the royal decree on healthy and sustainable school canteens that he is preparing will establish that at least 45% of the fruit and vegetable portions served in schools and institutes will be seasonal.
In addition, at least 5% of the monthly expenditure that each canteen allocates to purchasing products must be used to purchase organically produced food.

Bustinduy went to CEIP Benimàmet in Valencia to learn firsthand about the Horta Cuina program, a project developed by the Center for Rural Studies and International Agriculture (CERAI), recently awarded the Activists for the Future 2024 Award for consolidating healthy, sustainable and quality food on school menus.

As he explained, the royal decree will not only guarantee healthier food in schools. "It will also ensure that our farmers, ranchers and fishermen have fairer wages and a more stable future, and that pollution and waste are reduced."
Bustinduy pointed out that the latest report from the National Plan for Official Control of the Food Chain indicates that 40% of centers fail to comply with the minimum recommended percentage for seasonal and local fruits and vegetables.

Also, 44% do not comply with the minimum recommendation for organic products, to which is added that non-compliance with these criteria has increased since 2022.

Limit ultra-processed foods
For this reason, the royal decree will urge all schools to offer fruit and vegetables every day, in addition to prohibiting the consumption of sugary drinks at meals. Ultra-processed and high-calorie foods will also be limited, quality meat and fish must be offered and the amount of legumes and whole grains in school menus will be increased, as established by the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Ministry's objective is to respond to the inequality reflected in the latest study by the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan), which shows the persistence of problems of overweight and childhood obesity in low-income families.
The royal decree aims to help combat this inequality by guaranteeing five healthy meals a week, "allowing all students to access quality products without having to depend on their family's income."

RECORDATORIO AMPA ASAMBLEA MAñANA = REMINDER AGM/ MEETING PARENT ASSOCIATION TOMORROW
Buenos días, queridas familias,
Desde la AMPA de Colegio Julio Verne, os damos la bienvenida a esta segunda parte del curso 2024-2025.

Es un verdadero placer para nosotros invitar a todas las familias que formáis parte de la AMPA, así como a aquellas que quieran conocernos, a la ASAMBLEA GENERAL ORDINARIA.

La asamblea tendrá lugar mañana , viernes 21 de febrero, con la primera convocatoria a las 15:30h y la segunda convocatoria a las 15:45h.

La asamblea se celebrará de forma presencial en el Colegio Julio Verne, en la sala Creativity Lab. No obstante, si alguna familia no puede asistir de forma presencial, tendrá la opción de conectarse a través de Zoom. (envíanos un mensaje para obtener el enlace para la reunión)

El orden del día de la asamblea es el siguiente:

1. Lectura y aprobación del acta de la asamblea anterior

2. Estado de cuentas

3. Convocatoria de nuevos miembros para la junta directiva

4. Elección de la nueva junta directiva o votación para acordar la disolución de la AMPA y nombramiento de la Comisión Liquidadora

5. Ruegos y preguntas

→ → ¡Os necesitamos más que nunca! Pedimos encarecidamente vuestra asistencia, ya sea de forma presencial o telemática, ya que algunas personas de la junta directiva no podrán continuar por motivos laborales o personales. En caso de no poder formar una nueva junta, se procederá a la votación sobre la disolución de la AMPA, lo que haría su futura creación extremadamente difícil. ←←

¡Os animamos a presentaros! Creemos firmemente que es fundamental que el AMPA siga existiendo en el colegio.
