Mistakes are not setbacks, they’re stepping stones!

Making small mistakes (like the one in this post) happens to everyone when learning English. The key is how we handle them. Remember these three tips:

1️⃣ Understanding: Mistakes are normal and part of your learning journey.

2️⃣ Communication: Let people know how you want them to correct or support you.

3️⃣ Patience: Be kind to yourself and to others. Learning takes time.

Trying to avoid making that “what did you just say?” face? can be confusing and sometimes seem to make very little sense, no matter what language you’re learning. But, they can also be a lot of fun to discover, learn and practice using at the right moment.

The first meaning is to decide not to punish someone for something. Like being let off with a warning instead of a fine.
The second meaning is a little rude, it is a slang term for breaking wind 💨

Ok, have you ever had this experience... You’ve got something to do, but the task is SO BIG you don’t really know where to start. You work hard, but when you take a step back it seems like there is SO MUCH work left to do. 😭 However, if you just focus on a small part of the task, then you feel like you are making progress.

Guess what? Learning a language is a HUGE task. An ENORMOUS undertaking. And it takes a long time to “complete”... I’m a and I’ve still got stuff to learn 😉

The best chance you have for success is to create small goals which don’t take long to achieve. For example, this week you could learn how to answer the phone in a formal business context OR you could learn how to order a coffee the way you like it OR you could learn 20 words to help you talk about experimental physics in English 🤓 ✨
