🚀 I’m launching something new!

I’m starting a new 3‑month Dutch program for adult learners, with three levels:
A0→A1 (€500), A1→A2 (€550), and A2→B1 (€600).

I’m looking for 3–4 motivated learners to join my first cohort. As founding students, you’ll receive a special introductory rate, with the choice of full payment (5% bonus) or split payment.

If you (or someone you know) want to finally make real progress in Dutch, send me an email at [email protected] and I’ll share all the details.

👉 And good news: similar programs for English and Spanish are coming soon!

Did you know that Hungarian has no separate words for “he” and “she”?
Hungarian uses one pronoun — ő — for both.

So how do Hungarians make the distinction?

Surprisingly easily.

They rely on context, names, and gendered nouns.
If you’re already talking about a woman, ő means “she”.
If you’re talking about a man, ő means “he”.

And when they need to be specific, they simply add a word like:

férfi (man)

nő (woman)

fiú (boy)

lány (girl)

or a description like az a hölgy (that lady) / az a srác (that guy)

So even without gendered pronouns, Hungarian speakers communicate clearly — the language just solves it differently.

Languages are full of clever solutions like this.
That’s what makes learning them so fascinating.

The Dutch word “wel” can make a sentence much more emphatic.

Compare:

Weet jij hoeveel een fietsbel weegt?
Weet jij wel hoeveel een fietsbel weegt?

The second sentence feels stronger, as if the speaker is stressing the question or expecting the listener to know the answer
