Renovation update ‼️🏡

Jack has been cracking on with the second guest house the last few weeks. It needs to be ready for family coming to stay at Christmas and there is lots to do 😅😅

How are we living in a world where spraying chemicals on food we eat is normal? 🤯

Don’t get me wrong I still buy supermarket food but I want to get to a point where I eat as little ‘fresh’ produce from the supermarket as possible!

Homestead Vlog 🌿✨

Over the weekend, me and the kids made homemade loquat jam 🍯

We definitely left it a little too late and most of the loquats were starting to dry out… but we still managed to make a huge pot of the most delicious jam 🤎

Moments like this are honestly my favourite part of homestead life, slowing down, making memories, and teaching the kids simple skills they’ll remember forever 🫶🏼

3 years ago we were strict vegans…

Now we’re raising quails for meat 👀

And honestly? If you told me back then that one day I’d be processing my own animals on our homestead, I would NEVER have believed you.

But here we are.

A lot of you have been asking how the quails are getting on and they’re thriving 🙌🏽
The coop is now 95% finished and somehow… none have escaped yet 😂

I’ll film a full update soon because we’ve learned SO much already.

So what’s the plan with them?

We want to breed them, eat their eggs, and eventually process some for meat.

The mindset shift happened when we started questioning how dependent most of us are on “the system.”

We wanted to learn how to feed ourselves.
To eat more toxin-free food.
To rely less on supermarkets.
And to build a life that feels more secure if things in the world become unstable.

Right now we have:
🥚 Chickens for eggs
🌱 A growing vegetable garden
🌳 A developing food forest
🐝 Plans for bees and honey
🫙 A stocked food store full of non-perishables

Will we ever be 100% self-sufficient? Probably not.

But if we could grow or produce even 50–60% of our own food… that would feel incredible.

And if society ever did seriously struggle or collapse, we’d know we could still feed our family from our land.

It’s crazy how much your perspective can change in a few years.

So I’m curious…

Could YOU ever process your own meat? Or is that a line you could never cross?
