Greetings from Atlanta! 🍑✈️

This week, La Meridional is attending the Institute for Global Learning (IGL) Annual Conference at the Westminster, and it has been a deeply inspiring experience.

For us, being here is about more than just professional development; it’s about reconnecting with the global community of educators who, like us, believe that travel can be a powerful tool for building a more empathetic and conscious world.

It’s been a joy to catch up with our long-time partner schools and meet new educators who share our passion for Relationship-Based Learning. Every conversation reminds us why we focus on deep connection and cultural immersion: because that’s where true transformation happens.

Thank you to the IGL team for such a warm welcome and a brilliant program. We’re returning home with fresh ideas and a renewed commitment to creating life-changing experiences for our students.

What an extraordinary week we’ve had at Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan School in Shanghai.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with remarkable warmth, by students, teachers, and host families who opened their homes, their culture, and their hearts.

The group of students from Siete Aguas (Valencia) learned by doing: practicing Tai Chi, rowing on the lake, exploring heritage sites, and engaging with Chinese art and history through curiosity and openness.

We’re deeply grateful to SHBS, and especially to Christopher Moses, for their trust, hospitality, and inspiring example of what relationship-based learning truly looks like.

China now holds a richer, more complete meaning for our students, breaking away from the single story, as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie reminds us.

We can’t wait to welcome SHBS students in Spain soon and keep strengthening this bridge of learning and friendship.

Relationship-Based Learning program in Valencia.

València, an autonomous region in eastern Spain, boasts a strong identity, rich history, and lively culture. It faces challenges such as the climate emergency, migrations, and low birth rates.
This program immerses participants in rural Mediterranean life, practicing Spanish with homestay families while engaging in workshops. Nature is always present in this program.
We delve into socio-political issues, reflecting on minoritized identities, Mediterranean migration flows, Democratic Memory policies, and youth concerns. Through the region’s root culture—Jota dance, pigeon racing, esparto, rituals, and ancestral traditions—we gain insight into the resilience and values of the Valencian people.
