English/Spanish Social Conversation Group

Hi Everyone, I have not been posting on this page as I am now working in the UK in a different role. However, there are still lots of people looking at this page which makes me think that maybe there is a need for more conversation on here. I have had students this summer staying with me for English Immersion and the main problem I find is not grammar or reading, but, speaking and listening. It is important for non English speakers to spend as much time as possible listening to how we pronounce our words, so listening to the BBC world service on the radio or watching English tv helps a lot. Even if it is background noise it will help as subconsciously you will hear how to pronounce words.
We have been playing a word game, where we have to think of words which sound the same but, have different meanings. For example meat and meet or sun and son, we have had a lot of fun doing this and it helps with our pronunciation practice. Try it, can you think of any words that we could use?

Hi Everyone. I would love to know how you are all getting on with your English conversation. Is everyone still studying hard. Don't forget that you can also use this group to practise your English or ask any questions you may have about grammar, phrasal verbs etc, etc, etc, as there are plenty of members who can give you advice and help. I look forward to seeing some activity on here again. After all we have over a 1,000 likes now, so the page is being seen !

Hello Everyone from a very rainy England ! I have a suggestion to make. Although the original Simat group is no longer meeting since I left, I am amazed at how many people are still 'liking' and joining this group from all over the world. So, how about we continue our group on llne? I will have to think about what we can do, but, I am happy to post messages on a daily basis which will require responses and I hope encourage conversations. Hello everyone, I am now back in England and love it here. I am really happy to say I made the right decision. I am going to begin sending emails to all my students to tell them about my new life and I apologise now for not sending them before, but, my move here was not without incident and its taken me a while to settle down and begin to think properly! However, I am feeling better now and promise to be in touch soon. I hope everyone is well and happy in Spain.
