🎨 Exploring Seville’s Artistic Heritage in Triana
Last week, students from East Carolina University’s faculty-led program took part in a hands-on ceramic workshop in the historic neighborhood of Triana, the heart of Seville’s ceramic tradition.

During the session, students learned about the history of Sevillian ceramics and the techniques that have shaped this centuries-old craft. They then had the opportunity to apply what they learned by painting two ceramic tiles using traditional decorative methods.

Experiences like these allow students to engage directly with local culture, gain a deeper appreciation for Spanish artistic traditions, and create lasting memories through experiential learning.

A meaningful alumni visit at SAIIE 🇪🇸

Today we were delighted to welcome Brad Rowe, SAIIE alumnus from the 1990-91 cohort (University of Wisconsin-Madison), back to Seville for the first visit since completing his study abroad experience over 30 years ago.

Brad is currently a lecturer in the Public Policy program at UCLA, where he teaches undergraduate students preparing for careers in public service and governance.

During his visit, he also had the chance to reconnect with Regla, who was part of the SAIIE team during his time as a student.

We are grateful for visits like this that highlight the long-term impact of international education and the lasting connections formed in Seville.
