Hoy nuestro trabajo nos ha llevado a una de las necrópolis provinciales más espectaculares de Egipto: El-Hawawish, el lugar de enterramiento de los gobernadores de Akhmin durante el Reino Antiguo.

Día 10. 27/06/2026. Gebel el-Teir, despedida

Hoy nos hemos despedido de Iimery y de la necrópolis de Gebel el-Teir. Ha sido una jornada intensa, de esas en las que el tiempo parece correr más deprisa de lo normal. Nuestro objetivo era completar toda la documentación posible de la epigrafía de la mastaba de Iimery antes de partir, y no hemos parado hasta conseguirlo.

Day 10. 27/06/2026. Gebel el-Teir, farewell

Today we said goodbye to Iimery and the necropolis of Gebel el-Teir. It has been an intense day, one of those days when time seems to fly by. Our goal was to complete as much of the epigraphic documentation of Iimery's mastaba as possible before leaving, and we worked tirelessly until we achieved it.

Hoy hemos trabajado en la necrópolis de Tehneh, más conocida como las “Fraser Tombs”, nombre que recibe en honor al egiptólogo George Willoughby Fraser, quien publicó las tumbas más importantes a comienzos del siglo XX.

Today our fieldwork took us to the Tehneh necropolis, better known as the Fraser Tombs, named after the Egyptologist George Willoughby Fraser, who first published this remarkable archaeological site at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Día 7. 24/06/2026. Gebel el-Teir, ¡arrancando motores!

Hoy ha sido nuestro primer día de trabajo en la necrópolis de Gebel el-Teir. La jornada ha estado centrada en dos líneas de trabajo principales. Por un lado, hemos iniciado la documentación sistemática de la tumba de Iimery y por otro, hemos llevado a cabo labores de prospección en el área, registrando y localizando las diferentes estructuras conservadas en el yacimiento.

Día 6. 23/06/2026. Gebel el-Teir, ¡Comenzamos!

¡Hoy ha sido un día emocionante para nuestro equipo! La jornada comenzaba muy temprano. A las 5:30 de la mañana salíamos de El Cairo rumbo a Minya, donde nos espera una intensa campaña de trabajo en las necrópolis de Gebel el-Teir y Tehneh.

Today has been an exciting day for our team!
The day started very early. At 5:30 a.m., we left Cairo and headed to Minya, where an intensive fieldwork season awaits us at the necropolises of Gebel el-Teir and Tehneh.

Día 5. 22/06/2026. Permisos y preparativos

Nuestra primera tarea de hoy nos ha llevado a las oficinas del Ministerio de Turismo y Antigüedades del Gobierno Egipcio, situadas en la meseta de Guiza, a escasos metros de las pirámides. Allí hemos completado la firma de toda la documentación necesaria y, oficialmente, ¡ya contamos con los permisos para comenzar nuestro trabajo a partir de mañana!

Day 5. 22/06/2026. Permits and preparatives

Our first task today took us to the offices of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, located on the Giza Plateau, just a short distance from the pyramids. There, we completed all the necessary paperwork and officially received the permits that will allow us to begin our work tomorrow!

Día 4. 21/06/2026. SAQQARA

Hoy hemos regresado a Saqqara, Entre las tumbas que hemos visitado destacan la de Idut, que reutilizó una tumba anterior perteneciente a Ihy, y la de Irukaptah, famosa por su espectacular conjunto escultórico. Sin embargo, la gran protagonista del día ha sido, sin duda, la llamada "tumba de los dos hermanos", perteneciente a Niankhnum y Khnumhotep.

Today we returned to Saqqara. Among the tombs we visited were that of Idut, who reused an earlier tomb belonging to Ihy, and that of Irukaptah, famous for its spectacular sculptural ensemble. The highlight of the day, however, was undoubtedly the so-called “Tomb of the Two Brothers,” belonging to Niankhnum and Khnumhotep.

Hoy hemos puesto rumbo a la necrópolis de Saqqara. Este inmenso cementerio, vinculado a la antigua Menfis, hunde sus raíces en los primeros momentos de la historia egipcia y conserva algunos de los monumentos más emblemáticos del país.

Today we set out for the necropolis of Saqqara. This vast cemetery, associated with the ancient city of Memphis, has its roots in the earliest stages of Egyptian history and preserves some of the country's most iconic monuments.
