The IGCSEs are here ✨

The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) are international exams taken at the end of secondary school, opening the door to higher education opportunities around the world.

After two years of preparation, our students now face this challenge — one that not only assesses knowledge, but also something much deeper: consistency, organisation, commitment, and the ability to sustain effort over time.

At The Montessori School of Mallorca, we believe in a whole-child education. We care deeply about the human, emotional and relational development of our students… while at the same time strongly committing to a solid academic foundation that prepares them for future challenges and opens doors to the world.

Because supporting them also means this: helping them trust in everything they have built, step by step.

Wishing the very best of luck to all our students sitting their exams in the coming days 🍀
We are with you.

At The Montessori School of Mallorca, one of our most cherished principles is “Learning from Peers.” But what does this truly mean for our students?

It’s not just about sharing a classroom; it’s a powerful development tool. When a child or adolescent explains a concept to a peer, they consolidate their own knowledge in a way that even the most formal lesson cannot equal. And the one receiving the explanation absorbs it with the naturalness and closeness of someone who is going through the same learning process.

the youngest are inspired by observing older children working with advanced materials, feeling driven to grow. The older children, in turn, reinforce their mastery by acting as guides, developing patience and empathy.

In Secondary, team projects and in-depth discussions become the driving force. Students learn to debate ideas, to value different perspectives—crucial skills not only for academic success but for professional and personal life.

✨ Did you know that Taylor Swift attended a Montessori school? ✨

Taylor Swift, born on December 13th, 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania, spent part of her early childhood in a Montessori school, where she attended preschool and kindergarten. During those years, she lived near a forest, surrounded by nature, trees, and freedom… an environment that nurtured her sensitivity, creativity, and unique way of seeing the world.

At her Montessori school —Alvernia Montessori School— Taylor experienced an education that respects each child’s rhythm and encourages curiosity, independence, and exploration. The same foundation that would later help her find her own professional path and become one of the most influential artists in the world.

At Montessori School of Mallorca, we deeply believe in that parallel:
⭐ Montessori education provides children with the tools to discover their talents, develop their authenticity, and shape their own direction.
⭐ We accompany our students on this journey with respect, observation, and expert guidance.
⭐ And just like Taylor, our children grow up surrounded by nature, free to explore, create, and connect with the world that inspires them.

Because we never know if the next brilliant scientist, the future artist who will move the world… or the next Taylor Swift is growing in our classrooms. 🌿✨

🎃 Halloween & All Saints’ Day at The Montessori School of Mallorca 👻

Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain , a celebration marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter — a time when people believed the world of the living and the spirit world came closer together. Over time, this tradition travelled across countries and evolved into the celebration we know today, full of costumes, pumpkins, and fun.

In Spain, around this time of year we also celebrate **All Saints’ Day**, a day to remember and honour loved ones, visit cemeteries, and enjoy traditional treats such as panellets, buñuelos, or roasted chestnuts.

At The Montessori School of Mallorca, our international community celebrates these dates in many different ways. Some families carve pumpkins and dress up, others share traditional sweets or remember their ancestors. And some families choose not to follow any tradition at all — which we think is just as wonderful.

Each family contributes their own culture — or their own choice — and that is precisely what enriches and gives life to our school: **a diversity of traditions, beliefs, and ways of celebrating (or not celebrating) that coexist with respect, curiosity, and joy. 🍂

“Everyone talks about peace, but no one educates for peace in this world; they educate for competition, and competition is the beginning of any war. When we educate to cooperate and be in solidarity with one another, that day we will be educating for peace.” – Maria Montessori

Maria Montessori lived through two world wars. In a time marked by violence, division, and fear, she devoted her life to imagining a different future — one in which education would be the seed of peace.

Her ideas about war, cooperation, and human dignity were so revolutionary that she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1949 and 1950.

In her book Education and Peace, Montessori invites us to understand that peace is not merely the absence of war but “a way of life that must be cultivated from childhood,” through respect, empathy, and collaboration.

For her, peace is built from the earliest years of life, when children learn to live together and resolve conflicts with understanding and respect. Montessori believed that education has the power to transform society, replacing competition with cooperation and nurturing in each child the awareness of belonging to a common humanity.

She also taught that peace is an inner state, a balance that begins within each person and extends to their relationships with others. Only education that cultivates this inner peace can sustain peace in the world.

At The Montessori School of Mallorca, we deeply believe in this vision: to educate for peace is to educate for a better world. 🌿✨

📚✨ Exam Time: An Opportunity to Grow

“Difficulties must be seen as opportunities for development. The child grows and strengthens by overcoming challenges, not by avoiding them.”
— Maria Montessori

At The Montessori School of Mallorca, we see exams not just as a way to assess knowledge, but as real-life challenges that help our students develop essential life skills.

💡 Learning how to study, staying organised, managing stress, and persevering in the face of difficulty are key competencies they will need in the future — especially as they prepare for higher education and university.

✅ That’s why we support our students through this stage so they can approach exams for what they truly are: an opportunity to measure what they’ve learned, identify where they can improve, and build their self-confidence.

🔄 In our educational approach, we value both the process and the result equally. Effort and dedication are just as important as the outcomes achieved.

To all our students currently taking exams:
🎓 We are proud of your commitment and we trust fully in your ability to face challenges with determination and joy.

“Adolescence is a new birth, for it brings with it a more complete and perfect form of humanity.” – María Montessori

At The Montessori School of Mallorca, we see adolescence as a key stage of transformation and growth. It is a time of exploration, self-discovery, and developing independence. 💡✨

For adolescents to reach their full potential, they need a safe and supportive environment where they can navigate the emotional and physical changes of this stage with confidence. At our school, we foster an atmosphere that allows them to express themselves freely, take on responsibilities, and develop their identity with the guidance of mentors who understand their needs and individual processes. 🌱📚

✨ “In Montessori, I learned to be self-sufficient and to think independently.” – Tina Fey ✨

At The Montessori School of Mallorca, we are proud to see how our pedagogy has inspired great creative minds like Tina Fey. An actress, comedian, writer, and producer, Fey is one of the most influential figures in American comedy. Known for her sharp wit and satirical humor, she shined on Saturday Night Live, created the iconic series 30 Rock, and made us laugh with movies like Mean Girls.

From an early age, our Montessori school nurtures independence, critical thinking, and creativity, allowing each child to explore learning at their own pace in an environment of respect and collaboration. We foster curiosity, self-confidence, and resilience, essential tools for our students to grow into confident and passionate individuals—just like Tina Fey did. 🌿📚💡
